FReepers, Let's put together a list of companies who honor and support America and our mission as patriotic Americans.
Your suggestion has great merit and applies to any endeavor wherein people exchange their money for goods or services. Dining and entertainment are two areas where the choices are virtually unlimited.
It is most fortunate that Mission BBQ provides extremely good product at a fair price. Will you have the same grit when your favorite BBQ establishment doesnt make the list?
The area of entertainment offers so many entertainers that selecting who to discard is easy.
Y’know, I’m starting to have a hard time here on FR. It’s so easy for people to tell all about how pure and perfect they are with all of their choices.
I started this thread because everyone was talking about boycotting NFL sponsors. Sure, there are lots of companies that make stupid pronouncements.
My idea was to highlight those companies that support America and patriotic principles. I thought first of Mission Barbecue.
The thread devolved to a purity party where if I shopped at Home Depot or used a Verizon phone, my patriotism was in questions. Criticism has eclipsed the option to support a patriotic company if and when possible. Our society doesn’t allow up to be an ultra pure consumer.
there are some places I don’t patronize. For instance, a local grocery store executive made some comments that he didn’t believe we should have the right to bear arms and he didn’t want the business of gun owners. OK, works for me, we don’t go there.
Same for Target. I don’t have the same vitriol for Home Depot. For one, the nearest other option is an hour round trip vs a walk down the block.
I prefer to buy American but also know that often I cannot.
I’m not a purist who chooses to live a monastic lifestyle rather than to give money to buy a service from a company I generally disagree with.
But, as in the case of Mission Barbecue, being there at noon is an event that warms the heart. If you ever have the chance, check them out.
Whiskey Ridge Cattle Company. Find them on Facebook. Best beef we’ve ever tasted. They ship.
I’ve helped destroy Target. I take surveys an they are Constantly begging what can they do to get me back.
I tell them F you
DYING without football but won’t watch it.
If I like products equally, and one is patriotic and the other has no stance, i will go with the patriotic
I’m just saying if i greatly prefer one brand over another, as long as the one i greatly prefer is keeping its mouth shut, I will buy it over a patriotic brand.
Maybe it’s wrong. But I can’t buy JUST based on patriotism.
I did buy a pizza to send to the local fire dept from that place that commented on gay weddings :)
I have the chance and have checked them out, which is why I pointed out that It is most fortunate that Mission BBQ provides extremely good product at a fair price.
The point I wanted to make was that that choice is simple but how hard would it be if they held the noon-time event but served terrible bbq?
Gotcha.
Sorry, I’m a little edgy. Some FReeper basically accused me of child abuse the other day because I told a funny story about a kid.
It wasn’t a pleasant conversation.
