Don’t watch enough horse races to know if this is common or not.

I think it has something to do with the speed of light.

I’d like to slow my mirror down. I think it’s running fast. It seems to be showing what I’m going to look like, when I get older.

Well, I guess when you grow up you’ll know mirrors aren’t perfect.

Well, I guess when you grow up youll know mirrors arent perfect. I guess you (and others here) have no horse racing experience.
The mirror image is used to decide the order of finish at all race tracks I've been to (and that's more than 30). I've NEVER seen a photo where a horse did not dead-heat with its mirror-image.
And FTR, I have no interest in this race or who finished fourth. I just happened to be watching the races from Kentucky Downs today. To me, this is about the integrity of the photo-finish camera to decide race order.

Is there an actual mirror there? Or just a camera facing the opposite direction?

I think the display of the video is lagging, but I don’t think it would affect the integrity of it. It doesn’t appear to be a different angle, as there are differences in the positioning of the horses and riders. Take a look at the manes.

Is there an actual mirror there? Or just a camera facing the opposite direction? There is a mirror on the rail of each racecourse. (E.g. Saratoga has three tracks so three mirrors.)

Parallax. Its a thing....Exactly. That's what's causing the 3rd place horse to finish ahead of his mirror image, too.
