The first Le Mans with the GTO package was sold in the late spring of 1964. I drove a friend’s that his father gave him for a high school graduation present. I got to run it through the gears repeatedly when it only had 1,500 miles on the odo. Three dueces and a four speed. And, of course, 389.

And the late 1960s, very early 70s, eldorados were absolutely classy.

No. They are in a different class. Corvettes existed before “muscle car” became a fad with the car companies which started with GTO Tempest.

Most of us AACA-type car nuts don’t consider it “muscle” in the collectible sense. It’s a race car more along the lines of Porsches and Ferraris, albeit “lower grade” perhaps.

I know I didn't say it, but all or most of the photos I posted were in response to other people's choices for favorite muscle cars. ie, I simply posted photos of the car they said they liked best. I like them all. Hard to pick a favorite, but I might go with the GTO, 67-68 Mustang fastback, 69-71 Road Runner/GTX, 70-71 Challenger and Cuda.
