This crane in downtown Miami revolves wildly around its base while roof are torn off poorly built buildings followed by a wide pan of the city showing streets of asphalt now replaced with water.
Two police officers killed in head on collision. See here;
Vehicles driven by a sheriffs deputy and a correctional officer crashed into each other Sunday morning, killing both in Hardee County, southeast of Tampa.
They need lotsa prayers down there. Take a minute...
we were watching Fox and could see a building with a crane in the background...i asked my wife why in Gods name did they not disassemble the crane??
Gov Scott said in a news conference this morning that “prayer should not be our last resort. It should be our first resort”.
It takes weeks to disassemble those cranes, or at least much more time than they had. And they cannot be secured for risk of acting like a sail. The books are designed to act as a weather vane.
*booms
I have two cousins in Flordia...one near Orland and one in Sarasota. They’re both hunkered down.
sensationalistic videos.
Crane doing what it was designed to do and a crappy roof on a crappy building
It would take two weeks to disassemble that crane....there was no time.
The bay was empty of water at Bayshore Blvd. Bayshore Blvd will be underwater when it hit near Tampa...It floods during rainstorms.
It takes 2 weeks to disassemble one of those cranes. They don’t get that much notice for a specific hurricane. If they didn’t do major construction due to hurricane season they would have to block off June to October and only do construction in the other months of the year. I don’t know if they consider that, but of course it would raise the costs of commercial construction projects.
It takes almost two weeks to put up or take down those cranes. That’s why.
That crane should have been cranked down and secured. That boom weighs tons and with every revolution it makes it’s working itself more and more loose and unsteady.
I really doubt its axial bearings were designed for 60 RPM like that.
They all have something in common... can't quite put my finger on it...
