MARYSVILLE, Wash. - A pregnant woman wearing a crop top says a North Sound restaurant denied her service -- because her baby bump was showing.
The server said the restaurant has a "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy thats linked with health code regulations and anyone wearing a crop top would have been asked to cover up. But the customer doesnt buy it.
Charisha Gobin says she stopped by "Buzz Inn Steakhouse in Marysville with her family Sunday night, in a black crop top T-shirt and a long skirt.
The waitress/bartender stopped us and said, 'I'm sorry, you cant be here in that shirt. I said, Are you being serious with me right now? And she said, Yep, you can't be here, Gobin said.
Gobin is seven-and-a-half months pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl.
Just because my belly was bigger and sticking out. But had it been anyone else, I don't think there would've been any problem whatsoever, she said.
After the incident, she posted a photo of what she was wearing on Facebook, writing, "I was just denied service at the Buzz Inn on State Avenue in Marysville for my outfit. I'm violating the health code."
The server confirmed she told Gobin the crop top was a health code violation but didnt explain why. Gobin says she didn't stick around to hear an explaination.
I was livid. There was no way I was going to stay there, she said.(snip)
The server says she would've asked anyone else in this same top to cover up.
Gobin says she's never heard of a crop top not counting as a shirt.
I was wearing a shirt, it had sleeves. I didn't even have cleavage showing, she said.
Gobin says she feels like she was body shamed.

Someone eating at a steak house isn’t too poor to buy a shirt. You’d think some modicum of decorum would have told her not to go to a restaurant dressed like that.
She imagines everyone does. Having observed the fawning over (for example) pregnant, naked Kim Kardashian, she believes the general public is yearning to see her own naked middle.
Body-shamed?
These people need to find shame. Lots of shame.
she doesn’t see what’s wrong ????
Weirdo needs to recognize that Buzz Inn Steakhouse doesn’t have the same funds to settle this that Denny’s or KFC or Little Caesar’s or Wal-Mart would...
It’s like this other trend....women dressed up in pajama-like clothing.
I sat at Reagan International about five years ago and here was some gal with a pajama top and bottom....getting on the plane in front of me. Cheap cotton material, and I just thought....it’s another stupid trend.
I was at a Wal-Mart a while back. The lady in front of me had 3 inch fingernails and it took her about two minutes to grasp some paper money.
The cashier was stone faced.
When she moved on, I looked at him and said “are you saying something or will I?”
Got a good laugh over that.
Just to play devil’s advocate...
What if what she was showing was a very offensive looking Ruger .357 in an open carry manner OWB holster, and they refused her service?
I often wonder how they can use their cell phones with those nails.
I once went through the line while talking about Harry Potter books with one of my teenage sons (the really big one). When I said, “That spell probably wouldn’t work on you, since you’re half troll,” the cashier cracked.
I spend so much time at my Walmart that I know which cashiers are quick and which are as slow as Post Office employees.
Picture a man with a beer gut in the same shirt. No difference. The restaurant would have been correct in asking him to leave, too.
She absolutely looks like Walmart People.
Preggo vid star..?
I’m torn. But you have to draw the line someplace. You let THOSE tops in, and next thing you know, you’ll have MAGA baseball caps and God Bless America tee shirts./S.
Real class, that one.
The Kardashian trash? God no.
The self-absorbed mother-to-be strolling through an eatery with the in-your-face bare abdomen? No thanks.
How does this qualify as news?
For the whiner/snowflake, I’d suggest looking up the word “modesty.”
She could have pulled her skirt up over her “bump”. That would have been acceptable. For some reason women think that this is sexy and desirable and it’s anything but.
“ironically... her shirt says it all!”
And I guarantee she is too dense and self absorbed to see the irony.
Generation “Look At Me”!!
Their property, their rules. I don't have to eat there.
I’m typically all about pregnant womyn
I love them
But this one is wearing beachwear to dinner
Not a good idea
The comment from the corporate office of this Steakhouse sounds like they’re apologizing because the employee made the wrong decision. I sincerely hope I read that wrong. I would not want to be eating next to that beer belly.
