A Dearborn couple is seeking unspecified damages for being served bacon on a pair of sandwiches earlier this summer.
A Muslim couple from Dearborn is suing Kentucky Fried Chicken for having recently been served bacon on a chicken sandwiches. An unspecified amount of damages are being sought by the couple, who purchased the sandwiches at a Lincoln Park KFC. They allege cheese and bacon were added to the sandwiches after they requested cheese only, according to a Detroit Free Press report.
In May, a Dearborn man of Muslim faith sued Little Caesars for $100 million after he was allegedly served and then accidentally ate pepperoni made with pork, a food prohibited by Islamic law. The boxes were labeled "halal," but the pies inside were topped with regular pepperoni.
Dearborn attorney Majed Moughni filed lawsuits in both cases. He is also representing a Jewish woman in Sterling Heights, who is suing Dennys Restaurants for also having been served bacon, the Free Press reported.
The newer lawsuits allege breach of contract, negligent representation, and are asking for monetary damages for what they said is emotional and physical distress from having eaten bacon. Both lawsuits have been filed in Wayne County Circuit Court.
At KFC we respect the religious beliefs of our guests of all faiths," said a KFC spokesman. "We believe this lawsuit was filed as a result of a miscommunication between the guest and our team member. We cannot comment further on pending litigation against one of our franchisees.
$100 million is the starting offer. KFC’s lawyers will counter a low amount, and they will meet somewhere in between.
Never have I heard of Orthodox Jews suing like this. Not saying it never happened, but have never heard of such a lawsuit.
They knew damn well they were snakes before they took them in...
Gee, I’ve never even thought to sue these fast-food restaurants every time they’ve gotten my order wrong over the years. I’d be a millionaire 20 times over if I had.
I think the pig’s estate has a case.
Bet they knew exactly what they were buying and the grievance hustle they were planning.
It would have been CLEARLY indicated on the menu in the Dearborn eatery, and even discounting that public knowledge that this was an ingredient.
Screw the Muslims if they didn’t bother to read the menu.
It does not matter if they have “grievances” that others are not under Sharia Law.
Screw them, Sharia Law and their so-called “grievances”!
Never pay the Dane-Geld! If you do you will never be free of the Danes!
That is unacceptable.
It reminds me of the Little Caesar's case where the suing muslims recorded their call to the restaurant
A total shakedown and fraud.
If you are truly "halal" or whatever your beliefs are, you would never order from a restaurant that even *handles* pork products.
There's going to be pork juices everywhere, just on employee's hands from making other sandwiches.
And I bet that you are 100% right!
It should be completely legal to deny service to muslims if it’s okay for muslims to sue for a minor mistake in making a sammich.
In fact America should declare Islam to be a cult and not protected as a religion so this nonsense can all go away permanently.
Islam and western culture are like dirty used oil and water with the west being the water.
You wouldn’t have won — unless you are Muslim.
Never seen an Orthodox Jew eat at a Denny’s. Not Kosher. Probably a social club Reform.
You need to understand that Islam defines a grievance as somone not being under Sharia Law.
... that and Jews know they may have to read a menu rather than bully their way through life.
So did they order a chicken club sandwich and hope to have it their way like at Burger King?
How about don’t eat the bacon?
I was at an Aldi a few years ago making my purchases, which included some bacon. A Muslim customer behind me loudly demanded that a new line be opened because he couldn’t place his items on the same conveyor belt as mine. The manager argued with him, telling him there were no other cashiers available at the time and if he didn’t lower his voice, he could take a hike. He got up and left, leaving the items in his cart.

At what point did he realize that the pepperoni wasn’t tofu/turkey/chicken/beef?
Why is it I never hear from outraged Hindus that they were erroneously served beef products (including tallow fries)?

Pssst. That cart may have had bacon in it earlier the same day!!!
The right response is “Piss off, if you can’t have pork or bacon, don’t eat here.”
