I DIDNT MAKE THE ERRORStudent who went on insane spending spree after mistakenly receiving £850,000 grant shows no remorse despite facing possible jail
Sibongile Mani, 27, could face fraud and theft charges after she splurged the cash in 73 days
The accountancy student, who is at the Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa, gets £85 each month put into her bank account in food and book allowances.
But instead the company that administers the financial aid allowances at the university called Intellimali fouled up and sent £850,000 in cash to the hard up student.
In a Facebook post Sibongile claimed she had reported the error to the authorities.
She said: "Today my personal life has become a social media scandal. I have been named and shamed in public. Today, I am a bad person, a person who stole the money of students.
With that being said, and being named a thief, but as we all know in every story there is truth and there are lies with the very same story.

She says she told somebody about the mistake...but gives no details...and as is standard promises to tell ‘her side of the story’ at a later date. IOW she probably told nobody.
Klepto culture.
Come on, she’s gonna be an accountant.
What’s all the fuss over a few couple of zeros?
But she IS a specially-privileged government-certified minority group member. This is South Africa. It’s the LAW!
In South Africa, she isn’t a minority person.
YEARS ago, there was a hand-to-mouth NJ small business owner who inadvertently received $10,000 via a banking error. He immediately disappeared. They found him a few weeks later in Las Vegas when he bought a Cadillac (I said this was YEARS ago :-) ) He spent the rest on hookers.
When they brought him back, they asked him why didn’t he just return the money. He said that “When you’ve been eating hamburger all your life and somebody throws you a steak, whaddaya gonna do?”
He lost the Caddy. The hookers? “Best time of my life.”
She might get a job at Arthur Andersen.
I was thinking the Clinton Foundation, myself.
Women. She knew it was a massive error. She spent it anyways and assumes zero blame, blaming the people who made the error. Like they were not ever going to find out and correct it.
Good grief.
She should have spent the money on something more permanent - maybe some plastic surgery.
Yup, you are and you did.
Entitlement mentality and blame-shifting, the hallmarks of this generation.
“He spent the rest on hookers.”
I live in Vegas! I think it was Willie Nelson who said “I spent most of my money on booze, drugs and women. The rest I just wasted.”
Old Steve Martin routine.
But your Honor, I didn’t know that Bank Robbery was against the Law.
At least she speaks (types correctly at least) better English than most Gen Ys back in the states :/
She should have invested it so that she would get returns (an extra bit of cash) before they took it back :p
Yep, and booz and women...Then I probly would have wasted the rest...
She should have started a foundation and then she could keep all the money.
The Human Fund.
Money For People.
