A Jewish activist group is now demanding Mayor de Blasio scrub all traces of the anti-Semitic Dutch governor from city property — even Stuyvesant High School — as part of his campaign to rid the city of “symbols or hate.”

I think this is a bit silly.
Although I fully admit being unsettled when I taught a class in aeronautical engineering in the Wernher Von Braun Research Hall in Alabama.
Von Braun was a Nazi and, in most people’s opinions, guilty of war crimes for what he did at Peenemünde.
I get that he was essential in the US space efforts and, in fact, played a large role in defeating the Soviet Union. So I am game with him escaping his crimes. War is ugly and it was a necessary move.
But he was a f——g Nazi concentration camp leader — who escaped his crimes by being a genius, and not only a genius, a genius with critical skills.
Don’t name crap after him.
haha don’t tell anyone but my great great great great great great grandfather was one of those dutch governors - Wilhelm Beekman. He was a Calvinist but we have no family stories about him being anti-Semitic. One thing he did do, however, was convict a official for continuing to collect taxes after the governing legal document allowing him to do so expired lol.

I have a different take on this.
This move is actually brilliant, even if the practical effect of it was unintended by those ‘activists’.
It is ripped directly from Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals:
4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”
In this case, de Blasio specifically, and the intolerant Left more generally, need to be hoist by their own petards, so to speak.
They are the ones who imposed this Commie-inspired, Taliban-inspired, foolishly PC, ‘reign of error’ on the public, and they must have their collective noses rubbed in it.
When are we going to get all of the communist mass murderers-admiring government paid teachers out of the public school system? Dangerous bastards who push their extremist views on unsuspecting young minds on a daily basis.

FYI, I’m Jewish, and over 100 people from my mother’s side of the family were murdered by the Nazis. I have not one molecule of sympathy for them...but one must be realistic about what life is like in a totalitarian country. On my father’s side, several relatives had to join the Communist Party in the Soviet Union, or face being out of work. This was after my great grandfather had everything that he ever worked for stolen by the Communists in the early 1920s, and that he was basically beaten to death by the NKVD in 1937 (age age 74 - wow, what a threat a broken old man must have presented to the Soviet regime!). I have a white-hot, burning hatred of everything totalitarian - which, for over 100 years, has meant everything Leftist (because, make no mistake, the Nazis were Leftists).
Please, let’s not go accusing every German who wore a uniform and even joined the Nazi Party of being a mass murderer - they weren’t. MANY were, of course, but not all - and basic morality requires us to distinguish between the two.
