The New York Yankees are drunk with the power of their metropolis.
Their "attitude" is undeserving.
Tonight, the Detroit Tigers shredded the Yankees in a game with sniper pitches and bench clearing brawls.
Tigers won. Yankees LOST, in so many ways.
BTW: LaGuardia airport is almost as much a shthole as the Yankee manager and team.
27 world series championships hmmmm
The only team from Detroit I respect is the Red Wings. And while the Yankees do suck, my reasoning for that is simple. I’m a Mets fan. But then again, my team is 21.5 games out so who am I to talk?
Remind me of the old Billy Martin days. Would go to Yankee Stadium just to watch Billy get thrown out. Great baseball!!
Intelligent post.
If we didn’t have so many hicks coming from the rest of the country, messing up our small, art deco airport, we would be a first class facility (not faculty - did you attend a world class college to write like that?)
Ah the Yankees. As was said in the past rooting for them was like rooting for US Steel when it was so dominant. I don’t begrudge them but in my small sample of conversations in the NY metro area I was shocked how many local denizens really hate them.
Thank you. The Tigers and the umps for not controlling it made that game a joke.
Yankee-hate is almost always praiseworthy by me, but today’s Yankee team features stars that were mostly developed in the Yankees farm system. That’s a far cry from when the Yankees used the Athletics as their farm team.
The Yankees ... because World Series championship Number 28 is ALWAYS the hardest...
Detroit still looking for number 5.
Case closed

Given the controversy over the name of Yawkey Way (racist long-dead owner), I’m sure Fenway will soon be selling T shirts saying YAWKEYS SUCK :)
“He was nothing but a greedy crook.”
I don’t fault Steinbrenner for what he did. If the league is not going to do anything about it when it had to dawn on them that their rule didn’t have sharp enough teeth to stop what he was doing and he was willing to go through the paperwork so he could ignore the rule, then it really turns into a shame on me.
And now with the intervention of so many secondary TV markets to go with ABC, Fox, and whoever gets the playoffs and world series, the revenues are immense for those that can market their teams to a large market like the northeast with the Yankees, and some Red Sox pandering.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg as all sports have learned how to stock their rosters, build their massive cathedrals, and price products to acceptable to get the cash cow to support a small group of people with more money than most will see in a lifetime, yearly. They change rules, they alter the surface, they change equipment, and they create drama to mesmerize the money (fans) so they can soak every drop of it. And they hire announcers to blather their idiocy over the airways to trap the listener into thinking they know what they are doing and buy what they are smelling. And the ritual continues with each generation. Hero hypnotism at it’s best. (Or worst)

Actually, that’s a left-wing talking point here in NYC. Liberals love the Dodgers and the Mets, not because they even know anything about baseball, but because it wasn’t the wealthy Yankees. Luckily, I grew up in an intelligent home that didn’t go pc on sports. I remain a Yankee fan even if they are doing badly.
LaGuardia, as you probably know, is getting a total rebuild that won't be done until around 2021. So I guess they are apologizing for their appearance until then. An airport is an airport. So long as it gets me to where I am going. I came from Atlanta airport which is probably 10x the size of LaGuardia. It's about three miles from your gate from where you drop your luggage off! Good airport to exercise in. At LaGuardia last night, it was fun to dodge all the gypsy cabs on the way to the proper taxi stand. They see you coming out with luggage and you are a marked man.
I couldn’t even feel bad about Sale getting smoked by the Indians because I was still on a high from the Yankees loss.
Now you’ve done it. Howie Carr will be selling them by the truck load! He Trolls FB.
How dare you bring simple math into this discussion. Next thing you will be championing capitalism and good management for their long term success. Sarc/
I seem to remember something about the Yankees being the professional sports franchise with the most championships of any other sports franchise.
Hold that, tiger!
