Oakland Athletics outfielder Matt Joyce has officially been suspended by Major League Baseball for two games after he shouted a gay slur at a fan during Friday night's loss to the Angels.
An investigation by the commissioner's office on Saturday found his actions violating the MLB's code of conduct. Joyce has since apologized for the slur on Twitter.
"In regard to last night's incident, I first and foremost want to sincerely apologize to the fans, the Oakland A's, MLB and the most importantly the LGBTQ community for my comments and actions," Joyce said in a string of tweets. "I am beyond sorry for the inappropriate language that I used and understand and agree that those words should NEVER come out of someone's mouth no matter the situation."

Good guess, I’d like to know what he said.
I might have agreed with the suspension if it turned out he simply slandered a non-faggot fan, calling him a faggot. It turns out that the outfielder was accurate in his assessment, making it an accurate call. How can it be a slur, if it is accurate?
Now, I have a Dire Straits song in my head! lol
Re: homophobia
Where is the compassion for someone suffering from “PD” (phobic disorder)?
“A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder, defined by a persistent fear of an object or situation.[1] The phobia typically results in a rapid onset of fear and is present for more than six months.[1] The affected person will go to great lengths to avoid the situation or object, typically to a degree greater than the actual danger posed.[1]
If the feared object or situation cannot be avoided, the affected person will have significant distress.[1] With blood or injury phobia, fainting may occur.[1] Agoraphobia is often associated with panic attacks.[6] Usually a person has phobias to a number of objects or situations.[1]”

Some of us already have. Stopped watching NFL & NBA games several years ago. Seldom watch baseball.
There was a guy in my high school who used to yell at opposing team players, heckling them, calling them “faggot” a lot and other crap..... I guess nowadays he would have to be executed.
The thing that disgusts me most about this situation, is the craven apology.
I agree with the suspension. He is an employee of the A’s. No matter how accurate the description is he was rude to paying customers.
