Maybe if they made a real movies, rather than boring remake after remake with stupid CGI effects.
The movie I went to today started 20 minutes after the announced show time because of eight previews. Maybe they should show fewer previews if they want more people to buy tickets.
Becoming a great actor/actress does not mean you are wise in the ways of the world.
When people who pretend for a living start telling me how l am supposed to live my life and what to believe they can't expect me to waste my money supporting their fairy tale lifestyle.
America is great and we will be greater. Screw all of you Hollywood Liberals. MAGA.
Most of today’s movies suck...or try to deliver some LBGT message, or liberal meme; then add the talking, the cellphones and the prices of popcorn, and you have a recipe for failure.
Kids used to make up quite a bit of their revenue, but now, in most locations where theaters are, it’s too dangerous to let the kid go to the movies.
Movies are mostly crap these days! My husband and I love going to the movies but what are our choices?
Comic Book movies
Planet of the Apes
Robots
There’s nothing in it for us. They’re also expensive!
Taking your spouse to a movie has turned into a $50 outing. We’d rather spend the money getting something good to eat.
My brother, who lives in Seattle, told me that he and his wife actually went to a theater, bought a ticket and watched a movie.
I asked why he would do such a silly thing.
His answer: For the air conditioning. It been Global Warming heaven in the Northwest the last few days.
For me it’s been a very long time and I have an important question for Freepers:
Do the still sell RAISENETS at movie theaters?
Hated It!
You know what about YouTube vids..?
They don’t scream my ancestors were smallpox blanket distributors.
That America STOLE everything.
That deep down I REALLY SHOULD be gay.
And they’re free and don’t enforce 20 minutes of watching ads and Urban People don’t talk all the way through them, right next to me.
Netflix, expensive tickets, nicer/largerTVs, crappy stories/scripts, and topped off with Hollywood types that are constantly giving the finger to middle America.
I used to go to the movies at least once a week. Sometimes twice. Seven main reasons I don’t go anymore (or extremely rarely):
1.) The quality of movies does not compel me to go.
2.) The cost of going to a movie is too high. I feel that $11 per person is unreasonable.
3.) Lack of general manners and consideration in society. People converse and carry on in a darkened theater without even a second thought.
4.) Coupled with lack of general manners and consideration is the ubiquity of phones and other devices. People do not even blink an eye at carrying on a conversation on a phone in the middle of a movie. Or text. Or surf the Internet.
5.) Most movie theaters are filthy and in need of renovation and repair.
6.) Staff at movie theaters are unhelpful and apathetic at best, or surly at worst.
7.) With the advent of excellent and affordable 60” LCD screens, home stereo, streaming video and places like Redbox, even the draw of a big screen isn’t enough.
The last movie I paid money to see was “American Sniper”. It was worth it, seeing it with friends in the small privately owned theater in my town which has been renovated and has been there since 1947. Admission was $7.50 and concessions were reasonable (comparatively speaking)
Just for poops and giggles we went to see the Despicable Me 3 movie last week. Haven’t been to a theater in years.
Cost: $54.
Just not worth it.
A third iteration of Spider-Man? Really? Not bothering...
Theaters = bookstores
Past prime time
Why pay the price of the dvd for a chance to sit behind loud people and their kids, a chance to get shot up by the latest mass killer, and the chance to buy overpriced, old popcorn, candy, and soda pop?
Or you can stay home with your own big screen, refrigerator, restroom, and recliner.
It’s not even close.
What are these Theater’s?? They closed All the Drive-In’s almost 30 years ago.
I haven’t been in a movie theater this century.
If there is something I must see, I can wait until it is out on DVD and pay less for that plastic disc than I would for the “theater experience.” The part of the “theater experience” I do not miss is other people, many of whom don’t turn their cell phones off during the show, chew with their mouths open during the quiet parts of the film, bump your seat, put their butt in your face when they leave for the bathroom...
Plus there is little I really want to see from today’s output. I prefer old movies, especially black & white. I can find those online for less than the price of a movie ticket in the theater.
No. Anti American drivel will always sell well on the world markets. But they still mostly all want to come here.
A movie has to be pretty special for me to ignore all the benefits to see something on a big screen, and another huge negative is the insane volume they play the movies at, absolutely painful and would be illegal in a factory setting.
Modern widescreen TVs are so large and beautiful today, there is really no need to go to a theater unless you need to waste time away from home for some reason.
I am 99.9% sure I will never set foot in a movie theater again. I can control EVERYTHING at home, right down to pausing for a restroom break to the exact volume I desire, color, etc.
I have an OLED TV and frankly, I have never seen a movie on the big screen that matches the beauty of this TV, expecially the blacks.
Did they ever think that maybe it is due to the crappy movies they offer?
