What are these Theater’s?? They closed All the Drive-In’s almost 30 years ago.
I enjoy the Despicable Me animated features...just not at that price.
I haven’t been in a movie theater this century.
If there is something I must see, I can wait until it is out on DVD and pay less for that plastic disc than I would for the “theater experience.” The part of the “theater experience” I do not miss is other people, many of whom don’t turn their cell phones off during the show, chew with their mouths open during the quiet parts of the film, bump your seat, put their butt in your face when they leave for the bathroom...
Plus there is little I really want to see from today’s output. I prefer old movies, especially black & white. I can find those online for less than the price of a movie ticket in the theater.
No. Anti American drivel will always sell well on the world markets. But they still mostly all want to come here.
And that's just for the popcorn!
A movie has to be pretty special for me to ignore all the benefits to see something on a big screen, and another huge negative is the insane volume they play the movies at, absolutely painful and would be illegal in a factory setting.
Not true...I still have a drive in near where I live and I go there at least once a year.
Just for nostalgia!
About 10 years ago, we had a woman from Finland who had been a foreign exchange student with my family back in the Seventies come back to visit us, and brought her son with her.
She wanted to do something really “American”, and I thought there were few things more “American” than a drive in theater! We went to see “The Simpson’s Movie”, which they chose.
I found out that The Simpsons are extremely popular in Finland, probably because it is what they think America is like...:)
I also took them to a Boston Bruins game, because Tukka Rask was playing (from Finland)
Modern widescreen TVs are so large and beautiful today, there is really no need to go to a theater unless you need to waste time away from home for some reason.
I am 99.9% sure I will never set foot in a movie theater again. I can control EVERYTHING at home, right down to pausing for a restroom break to the exact volume I desire, color, etc.
I have an OLED TV and frankly, I have never seen a movie on the big screen that matches the beauty of this TV, expecially the blacks.
and Urban People dont talk all the way through them, right next to me.
Reminds me of being in a movie theater in Chicago years ago. There were a number of black people in the theater. And they talked constantly throughout the movie, and laughed in an exaggerated over the top manner at any funny moments.
It was really bizarre that day. People bitch about stereotypes and all that. Spend some time in the world and you can see where stereotypes come from.
I hate that you can’t get a 12 oz soda even for $2. They make you guy some 48 oz bladder busting thing for $6 which is just stupid. Like you said, never mind the popcorn.
Did they ever think that maybe it is due to the crappy movies they offer?
I have trouble hearing dialogue in movies. At home, I have a great sound system and Bose sound cancelling bluetooth headphones.
I now hate trying to watch a movie with a huge dynamic range in the sound, such as when there is a lot of low/whispered dialogue, and loud explosions. I just can’t hear dialogue and it irritates me.
And Friday and Saturday nights, I’d rather be watching #LivePD on A&E. Great show, vs the stuff from hollywood.
International is booming. China etc. If you look at action movies like wonder woman they make more outside the US than inside.
I read the book reviews sometimes. It would seem that books keep being published. Wonder why we don’t see more of that and films for people over 14.
Maybe it’s too late. Netflix et al may take over completely and I’m not sure that’s a bad thing.
If I had a studio or streaming service I would offer the author a percentage of the income and little up front. Roll the dice and you may become very wealthy.
You Tube videos are great. I love watching funny game show bloopers and cat/dog videos. :D
Try turning on Closed Captioning, it’s available almost everywhere for hearing impared viewers

I’m 70. I used th word previews last sunday and my 30 somethings laughed at me.
Yeah, old movies are much better. :D
Live PD has become the guilty pleasure.
That was some chase in WA going into ID that was on a little while ago.
West Columbia had it’s action starting out too.
I almost never go to a theater. The exceptions RiffTrax events. In mid-August is the 1980s 5 Doctors movie. The other is Fathom Events screenings of classic movies that deserve the big screen.
