I know. I just don’t like the look. But thanks for the suggestion! (I do not mind watching foreign movies with subtitles, but...that seems different to me!)
My favorite all time movie is: “The Best Years of Our Lives” which won Best Picture in 1946...timeless themes!
We are enjoying a TV renaissance and this is thanks in great part to HBO. More people will be talking about Season 7 of Game of Thrones than any film playing at the theater this year.
And with streaming, show runners and writers have been given a lot more leeway to pack each episode with those cool little Easter Eggs that you don't always catch the first time because they know after an episode airs, many viewers are going to watch it again. This is half the reason shows are so great today.
TV today is truly the best it has ever been. Nobody cares about movies anymore.

Being able to watch with headphones really helps me, but I hear ya!
I went to see Fatal Attraction on a Monday afternoon. Few people in the theatre. 2 middle aged black women sitting behind me. Quiet and I forgot about them.
Then the rabbit boiling scene started sweeping from the back yard to the kitchen. before they showed the boiling I heard a loud voice right behind me, “Girl that bitch done build their rabbit.” I almost ha d seizure.
I am convinced i will be killed in a movie theatre asking some conversationalist to shut up. It is usually a middle aged or later couple who think they are home and watching a moive from their couch or people my age where one can’t here and every 5 minutes we get, “What did he say.”
Yes that chase in Washington State on LivePD tonight was so intense. 30 minutes. crossed state line 2-3 times. Cop pits the vehicle. Guy gets out and runs. Cop releases the K9, who chases him down. It is a great show.
I was a little concerned at first when I saw Dan Abrams was running the show, but he does a good job.
I think LivePD is helping with police relations with the public. You get to see in real time, what they really do. And how they risk their lives almost every minute of their shift.
I want to go to IMAX and see superman fly off the screen nd around the theatre and catch Lois Lane dropping out of the ceiling. Holigrams could bring people into the theatre until they figure out how to do it at home.
At home, put me in the huddle inside a hologram or in the locker room or dugout and let me inside the game.
Senior tickets here in Florida cost $7 at our local B&B Theater. Skip the popcorn and it’s a cheap outing. My only complaints are that there are no subtitles and too few movies worth seeing. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve watched a preview and simultaneously said “loser” or “rental”. That said, I firmly believe movie theaters are on the way out. The old Hollywood system of having theaters bid for movies just doesn’t work when movies go to DVD so quickly and you can enjoy it on a big screen tv with a super sound system. I suspect that pirating has forced studios to release movies on DVD quickly. Factor in movie star political opinions and you ask yourself if you really want to financially support that person.
I haven’t see “The Best Years of Our Lives” yet but I’ll make a point to get to it. Mostly I’ve been buying old movies just based on the actors and the description (I prefer mysteries). My method is just like going to new movies, but the chances of a fun movie are more likely, and the chance of a “perennial favorite” a real possibility. I can see where people like Bette Davis and John Barrymore would draw someone to the theater. They made every script sing.

I will say, I must be one of the few people who take advantage of 3D on my home screen...I have a number of movies I have purchased with 3D, and everyone who comes over and watches a movie has been impressed.
They all think it is going to be like the red-blue glasses, but it is really well implemented, and doesn’t hurt they eyes or give a headache. I find them a lot of fun to watch.

I just looked up the film you recommended...it sounds great. I have one I haven’t watched yet called “Since You Went Away”, which seems to be a slice of life during the war. I bet they’d complement each other nicely.
If I were Disney or Apple I’d be on this.
I watch new movies when I can rent them for a few bucks, but I have been delving deeper and deeper into old movies. There is a lot of great stuff out there that makes many movies today seem shallow and infantile by comparison.
I love stuff like “Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo”, “The Caine Mutiny”, “Some Like it Hot”, etc.

Agreed. You rarely see films getting the kinds of buzz or fan dedication that Game of Thrones and Netflix shows get.
I can’t get enough of Hollywood homo stories. It’s what’s been missing my whole life.
