'Bumbling' Georgia man dramatically sets his house on fire in failed attempt to burn BEES out of their nest Georgia home destroyed in fire after the homeowner lit a stick to a bees nest Home's roof had flames through it after man tried to get rid of bees in the gutter The home was mostly destroyed in the Sunday fire
A man's attempt to burn bees out of their nest backfired after the ill-advised extermination method caught fire to a Georgia home, destroying most of it.
Fayette County Deputy Fire Chief Tom Bartlett says the homeowner lit a stick on fire Sunday, then tried to poke the flaming stick up into the bees' nest near the roof to get rid of them.
That set fire to part of the house, with the flames then spreading through the attic and engulfing much of the structure.

Ah gee, north Ga. Just a tad south of Fulton county Atlanta.
My friend said the fire department from town and his dad arrived about the same time. Think he still has welts on his backside from dads belt from 40 years ago.
A can of Raid Wasp and Hornet spray is only about 3 or 4 bucks at Walmart. It shoots a 20 foot stream so you don't even have to be close the the nest.
It’s not Florida! It’s not Florida! It’s not Florida!
Sorry, almost a first...

I mean, I can see doing this over spiders,....but bees??
Then there was the time I went pheasant hunting at a game farm.
As the sun was going down, some of the teenaged employees decided that It would be fun to grab some barn pigeons, soak them with lighter fluid, set them alight, and shoot them.
What do barn pigeons do when you turn them loose?
They fly back to the barn.
Alcohol was a factor.
You can smoke bees out but you can’t burn them out...Sheesh.
Say what you will about this guy, at least now he doesn’t have any bees in his house.
Bees do not live in a nest.
If he had bees in his house he should have called a beekeeper and had him do a cut out.
Now neither the bees or he has a home, I feel worse for the bees than I do him.
Short article ... can be read in less time than it took you to post.
He just moved here from Florida......
They’re exporting stupid now.....
Funny, but it could happen to anyone. I mean, who are we to judge? Right? What? Me? No! I’ve never...well, not on purpose, but...
Never stick a flaming stick up a bee’s butt.
But, bees don’t live in nests. They live in hives. With all the info available on the internet there’s no reason for printing inaccurate stuff.
Suddenly I remembered the advertising slogan "Momma get RealKill....you too, Dad."
Mission accomplished. No more bees.
