A Staten Island judge approved nearly $4 million in payments to the family of Eric Garner from a $5.9 million wrongful death settlement with the city, according to lawyers involved in the case. The judge is still weighing how much to award in attorneys fees, according to attorney Lorraine Coyle who represents Garners 3-year-old daughter, Legacy Jayleen Garner-Miller. Garners youngest child and his widow, Esaw Snipes, will received the largest shares, according to family attorney Jonathan Moore. Snipes will receive around $1.4 million while Garner-Miller will get close to $1.3 million, according to Moore. Im very happy that Legacy is going to be getting an increase in funds from what was originally proposed, Coyle said, adding that the original amount was under $1 million. Garners other daughters Erica and Emerald Snipes will each be paid $163,600. Their older brother Eric will get $204,00 and their younger brother Emery, who is a minor, will receive $482,000. Finally Garners mom Gwen Carr, who is overseeing her late sons estate, will get $82,0000. The money will be paid out over the next 90 days in the form of annuities or annual installments, Coyle told The Post.

Ignore police —>> family hits the Lotto.
You see, selling onesie cigarettes in New York, IS a lucrative business
Horrible, just horrible.
Eric Garner... was 6 ft 3 350-pounds...
“Garner had been arrested by the NYPD more than thirty times since 1980 on charges such as assault, resisting arrest, and grand larceny...”

Yep. Used to be that ‘crime doesn’t pay’ was a truism.
Not any more.
What crime was he executed for?
No wonder we have burnt out street lights and pathetic city hospitals. Look what the idiot politicians and incompetent judges do with our money——give it to a family of criminals and welfare mooches.

What goes around - comes around.
2 years. Max. I’ll give these moochers no more than 2 years to blow through this money with nothing left to show for it.
This money will be redistributed back into the system in no time flat.
Then these moochers will be right back in the Welfare System.
He executed himself when he refused to obey a lawful order. It’s a simple concept.
They will be broke in three years, the money will be back in the city’s coffers and the world will go on.........................
Executed?
Who said he was executed? He died of natural causes.
It’s just taxpayer money.
You pay taxes to pay off people....like lawyers.
“He executed himself when he refused to obey a lawful order.”
Who should decide what is a lawful order?
And how will you know that the next time a law enforcement officer commands you to do something, that the order is lawful?
They dog piled him. He couldn’t breathe and they wouldn’t stop. It was murder. That thug who killed him had 14 complaints with four being confirmed by an independent review board. So, they gave him a raise and jailed the guy who filmed it.
The $$$ ought to come from the police union.
I thought this was the guy the cops strangled to death for selling cigarettes.
Executed?
Who said he was executed?
...
All the Libertarians who hated cops before Obama made it official policy to hate cops.
The choke hold story is misleading and probably how he beat the charges. Garner died because he was fat and they crushed him. The same thing happened to a Down's syndrom guy in Frederick Maryland a few years ago.
He was breaking the law, but the law he was breaking is the one prohibiting the sale of individual cigarettes, rather than a pack. Protectionism for Big Tobacco. He was meeting a need, being entrepreneurial, albeit in a way that was illegal.
He needed to be arrested; he did not need to be killed. Unlike Michael Brown and most of the others, he was a nonviolent offender who was not engaging in violence either before or during his arrest.
He was apparently choked to death in the process of being arrested, probably accidentally. Still, it shouldn’t have happened.
It’s pretty simple. Resisting arrest and running from the police is against the law.
Why are you apparently confused about this?
It’s cut and dried.
I imagine he beat the charges by dying within an hour after he was choked out by the police.
