me ^ | today | Onona

Posted on 07/07/2017 12:37:33 PM PDT by onona

Just tried to access Drudge and was interrupted due to my adblocker.

Anyone else ?

Photobucket is doing the same thing to me now as well.

Interesting. I am using:
Ghostery
AdBlock
AdBlock Plus
UBlock

Drudge opened fine for me.

I also run a VPN.

You don’t think he’s running the site for fun do you? Guy’s got bills to pay. This is part of the natural arms race, we hide from advertising, they find ways to make us be advertised to. ABP has been too successful, thus making it a target. Time to find a less popular less well known blocker they won’t try to detect.

Seems like Drudge is all ads, all the time. And if you go to a site, there’s another bunch of them. I am starting to stay away, frankly. I read the site but do not click.

This is new:

Something interfered with this website loading

This could be a temporary problem with your network, or due to your adblocker

Isn’t Drudge a queer?

He probably uses the ad revenue to hook up with guys in parking lots.

Why would we want to fund THAT?

(Shut up, Milo.. we know you love it...)

Ad blockers don’t do anything about cookies. And at this point even deleting cookies doesn’t help that much. It’s a post privacy world, time to just accept it.

I have been using only Ghostery for years.
Last week I finally got some sort of adware that Ghostery didn’t block.
Tested and verified that it was via Drudge this morning and *just* switched to uBlock Origin to evaluate.
So far it does everything that Ghostery has done with killing tracking and such but it seems to block a whole lot more stuff.

Not trashing Ghostery, just want to put a seemingly decent alternative.

Yep, happened to me as well, just tried it. Oh oh, new tech. I guess its only a matter of time before other websites follow suit. They do this to Youtube it’s going to be a nightmare.

FR is slow as s*** this afternoon. May be a leftist conspiracy.

Seeing what Drudge DOESN’T post is sometimes useful too.

Just went there and used AdBlocker Ultimate and was okay. I use Firefox.

I got the alert, complied, went to the article, which didn’t demand I turn off ABP, went back to Drudge. ABP was on again, stayed on and I finished my afternoon scan of Drudge.

Get on Drudge with AB+ no problem. The ads that were showing up are now gone.

FR OTOH, is slower than snail shiite. Takes almost a minute for the posting comment page to load. Sure used to be faster, before the outages, and presumed "upgrades".

I have AdBlock turned on and Drudge loads just fine. Probably different settings.

What the world needs is an undetectable ad blocker...why is that so hard?

To screw with the page so you have to see internet ads is like a TV station managing to control your remote so you can’t mute commercials.

I blocked the picture that Drudge posts at the top of his page. Past pics have annoyed me too much. Don’t see them any more. I use the HOSTS file.
I never go to Drudge without using private or incognito browsing, since his site puts load after load of ad crap on your computer.
