Archaeologists have discovered an area in Thomas Jefferson's plantation home that was once the living quarters of Sally Hemings - a slave with whom he is believed to have had six children. Her room, which was built in 1809 and was 14 feet, 8 inches wide and 13 feet long, was next to Thomas Jefferson's room. However, the bedroom went unnoticed for decades and the area was even made into a men's bathroom in 1941.

I believe this theory has been discredited in favor of one of his nephews. Family legends often have a factual basis but they get confabulated with the retelling over the centuries.

This theory was first floated in the DC papers during the fall of 1998, in the midst of the Lewinsky scandal.
The Hemings “story” was to give cover for Bildo’s escapades in the Oval Office with Monica.
Talk about collusion.

IIRC, it was Jefferson DNA, but it was only proven that it was a “relative”, NOT Thomas Jefferson himself.

Actually studies have proven that his nephew was no where around when the children were fathered, but letters and other documents show that Thomas Jefferson was always at Monticello during the conception of Sally Hemmings white children.
DNA did however proved that Thomas Goodson’s descendants are not Jeffersons.
As I understand it, DNA testing only pointed to a “male in the Jefferson line,” not necessarily Thomas. He had a brother named Randolph who, apparently, was quite the lad.

Read the article and unless I missed something, no proof was stated as to how they confirmed the “fact.”

It can not be proved that President Jefferson had sex with Sally. It can be proved that the slave girl Sally did have baby making sex with a Jefferson family guy. It is doubtful that it was Thomas. There was a major age difference.

That having been said, I believe that he is the father of her white children.
So, someone missed a room “14 feet, 8 inches wide and 13 feet long” and no one could find it or determine it was there??????
