A Florida man accidentally shot himself in the penis while he was sitting in the driver’s seat of his Nissan Altima.
Shaneika Roberts, 25, told Jacksonville, FL, police that Cedrick Jelks, 38, ran into their home in a total panic and ran straight to the bathroom. She followed him and saw that he was shot in the penis.
She took him to the hospital, where he had surgery, police said.
He told Roberts that he sat on the gun and it went off. Police arrived at the hospital a little after 3 in the morning because of the gunshot wound, according to WJXT.
Jelks had a 2004 cocaine arrest, the police said. Because he is a convicted felon, he could face weapons charges for possessing a firearm
We had a speaker at our private Christian college, who after acknowledging that no ethic joke seemed to be safe now, proceed to tell a Norwegian joke. Scandinavia was the ethnic home of much of the denomination.
However, he called the butt of the joke Hittite, because none of the ethnic group has survived to the current time.
I can generate half a dozen methods of stupid, (Or someone else, maybe?), that would result in him getting shot in the wedding tackle.
Gee, a felon lies to the cops, who he knows are going to be called to the ER. And this is the best he could generate?

Phu hiep city is just south, about ten clicks. The city (ville) is actually 2 click inland. We were right on the beach, maybe 1/4 mile, Lo bah). You can see the phu hiep airfield although it is grown over, just in from the beach.
I find it hilarious that your wife is a real anatomical Amish person who knows of, and objects to, this euphemism.
Never had an actual Amish pipe in on this subject. I kinda feel bad for them that they’ve been burdened with this.

I find it incredible that a good sport like you, who's been registered on Free Republic for more than 15 years, would make a comment like that!
I'm not saying that you were being disrespectful or provocative... just that you evince almost no understanding of the intention behind the use of the euphemism "Amish" in a story like this.

Everybody has a set of sensitivities. We found a big one of his. He is entitled to it, as we are all entitled to our personal pet peeves and sensitivities. Anything you can say is going to offend somebody somewhere.

You make some good points in post 35, Strac6. It reminds me of what George W. Bush called “the soft bigotry of low expectations.” It’s an outrage; a complete disservice to the black community...going back generations now. The liberals have the majority of the black community right where they want them.
I hear what BenLurkin is saying, though. I cringe sometimes when I read posts on FR. Not so much the Amish ones (but I’m not black), but others. I cringe because I know there are black FReepers and I hate the thought of their coming across these posts. I don’t know how many black FReepers we have, but I’ve been aware of several over the years. I do remember one FReeper basically opusing out a while back because he felt it was too toxic an environment for him, racially speaking. I’m not sure he was even black; he’d just had enough of the Amish-type comments.
It’s tough: we want to be able to speak freely, but at the same time we don’t want to alienate our minority FRiends. I think it’s just a matter of remembering that there are, indeed, black FReepers. No one would deliberately say something offensive, I don’t think; and I seriously doubt anyone thinks of black FReepers in the same category as the black people referred to as Amish, though they may feel like they’re being lumped in with them on some threads. I get that. I have to pipe up myself sometimes in threads where public school educators are being slammed. “Hey, we’re not all left wing lunatics! You’ve got some FReepers on the inside; don’t lump us in with the nuts,” etc.
I’m sure some of our threads would look different if our pictures and occupations were posted along with our handles; we’d know better to whom we were posting. But holy smokes, I would have been fired a decade ago! It’s why I’m not on Facebook, lol. The anonymity of FR definitely has its pros and cons, as this thread proves.
