Sea is rising. Glaciers are melting. New islands are forming. Developers salivate.

Someday the OBX are going to be inundated as the result a strong hurricane, but until then it’s a beautiful place to visit.

But wait, I thought the oceans were rising and Florida was about to get flooded out because of global warming?

And now you say NEW islands are rising up?

Global Warming. This will be proof.

Had an existing one sunk, Global Warming.

No matter what happens, it is Global Warming.

Oh no in 50 years New York City will be 1,000 feet above sea level. And it’s all because of global warming. We’re all going to die.

No worries! Global warming will soon make the oceans rise,
and the island will be history. Al Gore said so. /S

"Shelly Island." That's pathetic.

This happened on Trump's watch. I vote for Covfefe Island.

I love the outer banks. Lots of beaches where you can be by yourself. If only land were cheaper...

Good grief. The OBX are constantly being rearranged by mother nature and suddenly it’s news?

I will gladly trade a new island in NC for San Fransisco dropping below sea level.

This island finally floated back to the surface after the tragic capsizing because too many people were on one side of it once. Glad to see.

Let’s not make the same mistake with Guam.

I don’t know what caused it but if you give the UN 25 percent of US gdp they can stop it, maybe.

Clearly this new island is DISPLACING sea water - which will make the overall sea level RISE (an imperceptible amount)!

Many "versions" of Cape Point over the years. Here are just a few found on the ol' interweb...

This new "island" is looking like it wants to be just an extension of the point. I'm thinking the next major storm will have a say in whether that happens...

But, either way, perhaps we should at least wait until after the hurricane season before we start pounding the pilings for that new vacation house? :-)

Army Corp should save it. Put up 20’ levies. Need plenty of fill. What could go wrong
