And here's 20 more of the best of the best
Enjoyable! Especially The Platters.
Some great songs from a time when Black groups would harmonzie and sing melodies.
On the other hand, Doo Wop was not 90% Black as this would suggest, not even close.
Isn’t his real name Mr Earl?
“Pretty Little Angel Eyes” (1961) by Curtis Lee, backed by The Halos. Produced by Phil (Frizzy-Fro) Spector.
“Get A Job!” (1957) by The Silhouettes.
My goomba Mr Dimucci. From Belmont section. Arthur Avenue. Best Italian food in the Bronx.....no....the city
A few of the songs are classic doo-wop but....sorry...no way - Platters ? Drifters ? not really doo-wop.
That was some pretty bad shit.
Dion and the Belmonts would practice in the basements of the old 5 and 6 storey apartment buildings in daBronx. The acoustics from the unfinished brick walls and concrete foundations were as good as any music studio for getting their harmonies right.
My grandparents lived off the opposite end of Bronx Park, a couple of blocks north of Pelham Pkwy. Still a nice area.
Frank was a big fan of this genre.
Love the Platters!!
Yes! The Platters and The Drifters were dominant!
Love my goombas!!
