Six Experts Resign From President’s HIV/AIDS Advisory Panel in Protest
NBC News ^ | June 19, 2017 | Phil McCausland

Six members of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA) resigned in protest of the Trump administration, which they allege "has no strategy to address the on-going HIV/AIDS epidemic."

Scott Schoettes, Counsel and HIV Project Director at Lambda Legal, explained in a Newsweek op-ed Friday that he and five colleagues decided to leave their posts on the council for a number of reasons.

But their largest expressed gripe was that the Trump administration has not sought input from the council when formulating HIV policy.

Another “expert” “commission” is upset that it is faced with and admission that just because they are appointed to an “expert” position does not necessarily MAKE THEM the only “expert” counsel an administration may seek when making policy.

The idea that merely appointing folks to some “expert” body makes them the folks with the only, or even the “best” opinions on a topic is a GIANT fallacy of the regulatory state and its cousins on the many “boards”, “commissions” and “advisory councils” legislated to “advise” the executive branch. They are actually designed to CONSTRAIN the executive, like an anchor weighing it down, to hold it to the views of the “professionals” that get appointed to such boards.

A proper POTUS should dump all of them, and only have such advice that it seeks working directly in it’s White House appointed staff for the duration of its own administration.

The only individuals left in society today for whom HIV/AIDS can be acquired “innocently” are living with their heads in the sand as to how it is avoided, or their own negligence makes them not so innocent.

I know I will sound heartless, but seeing that this disease is spread sexually, I feel it is nearly 100% avoidable for all responsible people. There is a chance someone might get it from surgery, like many did in the 1980s.

It would be nice to eradicate it.

IIRC, homosexuals used to consider the person carrying HIV as possessing “the gift”. They took some strange and dark pleasure in taking a chance contracting the disease. How can it not be a good thing, if you think like them, not to have more gift giving?

I certainly wouldn’t wish this horrible disease on anyone, but many were wishing it upon themselves!

Trump's strategy? Telling queers to keep their “weenies” out of other men's butt holes.

If queers were able to control their sexual drives, there wouldn't be an AIDS epidemic.

Lambda Legal is one of those LBGQT transgender shops sucking at the government teat.

Six resignations is a good start. Let’s see more.

Yes, it sure would. BUT the ones most affected by it, and most able to help, are completely unwilling. As evidenced by their resignation from this panel for their petty reasons. Why should we care if they don’t??

I take it that you believe that HIV as the cause of AIDS is a scam.

Nope, a scam has to be of benefit to someone. Who would benefit from that belief? Oh, the drug companies...OK, maybe. But my point is that if you don't (or someone else doesn't) do the behavior you will not be afflicted. The "someone else" would be the infected homosexual or IV drug user who donates blood. Not your fault if you get it that way, but still spread by a BEHAVIOR.

Somehow I doubt that there’s any money involved in the resignation of these people. Liberals are freaking government money grubbers and they never give up the money-grubbing

You are correct about the behavior. The behavior, unprotected anal sex with multiple partners, essentially guarantees you will get infected with something on a continuous basis. Let’s call that something AIDS. You don’t need an HIV virus to predict that outcome.

The “beneficiaries” you are looking for are the members of the gay community. They like their behavior. They want to keep it. So tell them HIV is the real problem and then spend decades and billions of mostly tax payer dollars looking for a cure. It hasn’t been found. It will never be found.

If you want to do a little research go hunt down the definitive clinical study or studies that prove HIV is the cause of AIDS. You will be surprised to learn that you can’t find it. There never was a definitive study. Never was. Never will be.

Stop the behavior that causes this and spreads it. Problem solved.

Here’s the strategy: stop doing things up the $$$ that were not meant to be done up there where the sun don’t shine, stop shooting up with needles. Problem solved.

A friend of mine in San Francisco is close to death from AIDS. Yes, he’s gay. I told him decades ago, “If you catch the HIV virus, I’m going to kill you.”

My youngest bother moved to San Francisco in his early 20s. I had infrequent contact with him over the years, but I remember a phone conversation in I said that I envied his being single in a city with so many young women available because there were so many queers who would not be interested in them. I never knew he was homosexual until after his death at 41.

Why do we still need an advisory council? Why would we still be “formulating a policy”? The HIV/AIDS thing has been around for decades, and we’ve been focused on a strategy to combat it since the 90s. After 8 years of Bush, and 8 years of Obama, are these people saying we STILL don’t have a strategy? And if so, they are upset that Trump hasn’t got one in 5 months?

Why didn’t they resign 4 years ago, if it was taking so long to get a strategy together?
