Six members of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA) resigned in protest of the Trump administration, which they allege "has no strategy to address the on-going HIV/AIDS epidemic."
Scott Schoettes, Counsel and HIV Project Director at Lambda Legal, explained in a Newsweek op-ed Friday that he and five colleagues decided to leave their posts on the council for a number of reasons.
But their largest expressed gripe was that the Trump administration has not sought input from the council when formulating HIV policy.

There is an HIV policy?!
Sounds like Trump has decided to let PACHA die on the vine.
If people would just behave themselves...
Because of peoples actions AIDS has taken center stage for far too long! This has HURT the people suffering from other medical problem as Thalassemia and Sickle cell. Shamefully people have waited for years to get help and nothing has changed in their help due to ALL monies and studies going to HIV/AIDS.
Its time thalassemia and sickle cell have some break through. These people have so many problems dealing with immune system issues a even growth adnormalities. The serious ones don't live pass their teens.
Too funny (and pathetic...)
HIV/AIDS is caused by BEHAVIOR. Why should we bother trying to fix it if they decline to fix the behavior?
++++
I take it that you believe that HIV as the cause of AIDS is a scam. A never proven lie. If so, there are at least 2 of us who believe so here at Good Old FR.
Activity caused diseases don’t need a government organization. simply let volunteer groups post leaflets that say:
To avoid __________, don’t _____________.
Just fill in the blanks with the negative consequence in the first one and the activity that causes it in the second one.
Pun Intended???
All homosexual advocates ...
But, you see, the “existing conditions” so viciously inserted into the Obama HealthCare Destruction Act are the homosexual code words for HIV/AIDS/STD infections!
Perhaps if they stopped jamming their wankers into corn encrusted sewage pipes, they would be less suseptible to wasting diseases. More money and resources are wasted on that 100% avoidable disease than nearly every type of cancer
Winning. Three fewer losers in the administration.
Well Bye then!
Years ago I was working in NYC during the early stages of the AIDS outbreak. I was walking in Greenwich Village behind 3 gay guys. They were talking about AIDS. One Black dude said "I'm just not going to stick it anywhere anymore!" He got close to the answer.
No.
Epidemiology intended.
Think “lavender mafia”.
And the band played on...
The most surprising thing in this article is that Newsweek is still in business.
Their advice should be: Keep it zipped up. How hard is that? For the past 30 years, this perverse sexual addiction has cost US taxpayers billions. Everyone knows how it is transmitted by now. Shut down this useless advisory council.
A friend of mine in San Francisco is close to death from AIDS. Yes, he’s gay. I told him decades ago, “If you catch the HIV virus, I’m going to kill you.” Didn’t deter him...many if not most of the people who are afflicted with this disease are sex addicts. Sex can be an addiction, and that’s where any “panel on AIDS” should begin.
I was at school in SF when the epidemic began. Young men were dropping right and left...took awhile to identify it as a sexually-transmitted disease, but when that was announced, any sane person would have STOPPED their stupid addictive behavior. But all the programs the government sponsors are directed toward accommodation.
Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” comment has been vilified all over the place, but it’s the only sane thing to say to an addict. Had this conversation yesterday with a female friend who is 150 pounds overweight. She argued, and I told her “your addiction always lies to you.” She’s smart enough to understand that she’s addicted to food.
A man I dated works as a drug-and-alcohol counselor. A very “no BS” guy who saw through client’s excuses. Virtually every time we went to a restaurant, someone came up and thanked him for getting them or their kids clean and sober, some quite effusively. Even with a 50% success rate, counseling (often mandated by employers) is worthwhile.
So I hope this AIDS panel has a clue.....and can “just say no” to accommodating unprotected sex.
