The Trump administration has approved tens of thousands of temporary amnesties for illegal immigrant Dreamers, according to numbers released Thursday that underscore a major reversal for President Trump.
The decision has enraged the president’s conservative base, which hoped he would make good on his promise to revoke the policy, known in governmentspeak as DACA.
But immigrant rights advocates, who were harshly critical of Mr. Trump during the campaign, said he deserves some credit for defying his right wing and keeping the program intact.
“I definitely think that he does deserve credit for continuing a very successful program for young people who grew up here,” said Cesar Vargas, a Dreamer who is now a practicing lawyer.
Mr. Trump appears to be maintaining the pace of the Obama administration, with more than 17,000 new two-year amnesties and more than 107,000 renewal applications approved from Jan. 1 to March 30. Both numbers are comparable to the final full three months of President Obama’s tenure.
All told, some 780,000 Dreamers have been granted DACA status under the 2012 program, amounting to a 92 percent approval rate. DACA protects against deportation for two years and grants work permits and entitles the immigrants to benefits such as driver’s licenses and some tax credits.

I’m more inclined to believe the news report is lying rather than Trump.
I won’t believe ANYTHING they say until I see them put exactly the accusation they report as a question to the administration, and the administration tries to make a distinction without difference for an answer.

Wow! Anyone who has never lived in any other country but was brought to America as a child must, by definition, be an alien from another planet. As such, we would, with our current limited technology, be incapable of deporting it to its own planet.
OK, taking off my Grammar Nazi hat, I understand what you meant in your post. The problem is where would “the line” be drawn? How many years in the US using CONFIRMED DOCUMENTATION, what DOCUMENTED age at DOCUMENTED date of arrival? Having too much “kindness” has been killing our culture, IMHO. Sometimes you just have to say the law is the law and NOBODY should benefit from violations of the law.
I saw the report on CIS. Immigration is their thing and they track it religiously. And I’ve never seen them lie. They also used a government report for their stats.
Well I don’t know what CIS stands for, but even so, I do know strategy and tactics are two different animals and I still trust Trump more than any critic at this point.

To MAGA it would take rolling back liberalism. Trump has done a lot of good. But let’s face it, we are on the leftist road to ruin, and Trump is only a speed bump.
It has been known since Jan 20 that Trump was not going to target Dreamers at this time. I have not seen or heard any enraged people on this issue. Everybody has ignored this until this sudden re-gurgitation of old news. I suspect someone is just trying to generate the fundraising cycle again. Some new scare pitch to rake in the money.
This is no different than the Kamala Harris performance which was all about raising money for the future and had zero to do with Trump, Comey or the Senate. Are you receiving as many appeals for money as I am? These fundraisers obviously knew Harris was going to do this and were organized to time their appeals to her doing it.

I am. One of the main reasons I voted for Trump is that I thought he would stand up and do the right thing.

You forgot the /s. I and many I know are outraged. Trump repeatedly promised repeated to end Obama’s executive orders and actions giving amnesty to illegal aliens. It bothers me greatly that he ignored this promise and is now himself giving amnesty to illegal aliens.
After my redneck brain quit doing back flips,I did some research. Pres. Trump can’t do or say anything about DACA without jeopardizing “Texas v United States” due to be heard this session by the USSC.
