An L.A. home owned by LeBron James was the target of a hate crime -- someone spray painted the n-word on the front gate and detectives are now investigating, cops tell TMZ Sports.
Here's what we know ... multiple LAPD units and a neighborhood patrol vehicle responded to the home early Wednesday morning. We're told the word was scrawled on the outer gate.
We're told investigators are looking for security footage from neighbors which may show the perpetrator.
Records show LeBron bought the house back in 2015. The graffiti has since been covered up.
We're told LeBron was not at the home at the time of the incident -- he's presumably in the Bay Area practicing for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, which starts Thursday.

His wife doesn’t want to leave Ohio and he’s in the late afternoon of his career, but we’ll see. I can’t personally understand why anyone wants to live in what LA and California are becoming.

Bath is like like living in Oregon without the nuts cases. I grew up next door in Northampton Township. The daughter of a friend and her husband (young brew master for a brewery pub in downtown Cleveland) just moved into a beautiful ranch style house on seven acres, like us on the cusp of the national park, that they bought for around $350k. The rest of the country can make fun but the joke’s on them. Just talk with anyone who attended the RNC last year.
When I was a kid, we used to drive dow Yellowcreek Road. You know that place with the pond and all the beautifully laid stone walls? My old neighbor in Independence designed that! Harold Barger, a famous landscape architect.
Only so many people would even know that a black man lives in that home.

So glad my fellow Freepers are discussing this. Searched and found this thread that I didn’t see earlier. Found a good skeptical article linked here. With all of these types of instances nearly always being hoaxes, I figured this one is too. In this day and age, impossible to believe there were no cameras. Also surprised it’s not a gated neighborhood. Recall that LeBron is a HUGE SJW so wouldn’t surprise me he was in on it. Timing is also suspicious with the finals starting where his team is a huge underdog. Also wouldn’t be surprised if an African American did it if it turns out to be legit. “On Friday afternoon I called the Los Angeles police department to request any and all information about their investigation of the alleged racist graffiti incident on a gate outside LeBron James’s LA area home. The LAPD said they had nothing to share, including the police report itself. The only evidence I was told the police department had logged was a photo of the graffiti on the gate provided by the individual(s) at LeBron James’s Los Angeles residence.
I was also told there had been no surveillance video entered into evidence in this case.
So after five days of histrionic media coverage, most of which lionized LeBron James for his response to racism, we still have zero public evidence that any crime actually happened and the Los Angeles police department only has one photo provided by someone at LeBron’s residence

But what is actually public at this point? Virtually nothing. We don’t know what happened, or even if it happened at all, and we don’t know who did it.
Fair enough but to be honest, I have no idea why I typed that since that was my thought too...........Oh well, I called you're bet so I'll pay up. Private mail me your address and I'll send you the $10....
