Out of the countless superhero movies I have to consume ever year (and have watched in my life), there are only a handful that I completely enjoyed and thought were masterworks of the genre: "Superman," "Batman: The Dark Knight." Now "Wonder Woman" has made that small list.
Princess Diana of the Amazons starts out as a naive girl who dreams of being a great warrior like her mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), and aunt General Antiope (Robin Wright), but she is purposely being held back in her warrior training to keep secret an important truth about her. But when Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crash-lands on the hidden island Wonder Woman lives on, Themyscira, she witnesses firsthand what the god of war, Ares, has done to man, and she sets out to destroy him and free mankind of his hold on them.
Jenkins has laid out a great setup with Diana's backstory: her thirst to be the warrior she was meant to be, some amazing CGI-fueled fight sequences. But what has ruined many superhero movies (yes, the DC ones, but also many Marvel titles) is the added human element. Jenkins uses a fish-out-of-water scene in which Steve takes Diana by boat to the front lines of World War I not just to bring some lighthearted moments to a mellow part of the movie, but also to start the groundwork for a relationship between Diana and Steve.
It works perfectly and creates some very humorous moments as Diana tries to become accustomed to the world beyond Themyscira (especially when she's dumbfounded about why all the women are subservient to the men).

Business Insider is yet another left-wing business publication, JSYK.
A WOMAN who is a superhero? Huh yeah right. Next you’ll be telling me women can serve in the military, ha ha as if!!! To me a woman is a superhero if she gets me my beer when I snap my fingers
If they like something, I’m probably going to hate it.
You know this guy had to been paid to write this since Hollywood movies at the box office are tanking.
Is it possible for Gal Gadot (served in the IDF by the way) not to be wonder woman?
Phooey on “Wonder Woman”. Give me Mary Ann every time.
I almost never go to the movies anymore with today’s high ticket prices. I may go and see this one. I’m in the mood to see what a new star can do. Tired of the same old scowling, lecturing faces!
I just don’t have the motivation to fork over cash to see it.
I don’t think the idea of Amazons is new.
Everybody knows the real relationship is between Diana and Bruce.
AMC has $4.00 movies before 11:59am on the weekends....
Maybe soon we'll start seeing trailers for the Three's Company movie. Of course, they'll use a racially diverse cast and have the Janet character be a lesbian. But they'll hide that fact from Mr. Furley because he'll be cast as a greedy evil capitalist conservative.
Coming soon to a Theatre Near you:
My Mother the Car
Hmmm... a flood of positive reviews days before the movie has been released and is supposed to show SJW VALOOS...
It MIGHT be good (and kudos if it is) but I smell a Ghostbusters 2016 ad campaign here which was certified FRESH on rotten tomatoes by the critics because gosh darn it... grrrl powa!!
I’ll wait for the audience score...
