One of the many reasons I love frugalitybeyond, you know, the money it saves me and the financial independence it brought meis the fact that its application in my life has made me a more environmentally conscious person.
Ive always respected natural resources, been a fan of mother nature, and loved the outdoors, but it wasnt until I became a frugal weirdo that I began living a holistically environmental life.
Ill say right now that I know theres more I could do in the arena of environmentalismdeeper changes I could make and countless ways I could further reduce my carbon footprint. But its my hope, and my experience, that by applying the lens of frugality to my life, Ill continue to uncover avenues for stewarding our planet in my daily life. The side benefit of environmentalism is just one more way that frugality helps me craft the type of life I want to live.
How Frugality Is Environmentalism
Heres a list of all the ways in which our frugality increases our environmental consciousness.
(19 examples follow...)
Frugality is an environmental statement thats far more powerful than empty words or bumper stickers. Ultimately, environmentalism stems from acts of doing less: less consumption, less commuting, less carbon emissions, less wastefulness, less carelessness. Frugality finds the same root in the pursuit of less and in the joy and peace that stems from a life of simplified pleasures. The interwoven nature of frugality and environmentalism serves as a testament to their shared values.
This woman is preachin’ to the choir where my ‘lifestyle’ is concerned, but she makes a lot of good points without being overly, ‘crunchy-granola.’
As a, ‘Conserve’-ative, I always enjoy finding new ways to live simpler, consume less, enjoy life more, etc. So far, so good.
Enjoy. :)
Possible PING for our Gardening/Cooking Friends?
I don’t understand any of this stuff about leaving less of an imprint. My heroes in life left quite an imprint - a footprint if one must speak in ecologic mumbo-jumbo.
Living a frugal lifestyle is a choice. But it is not the only choice and it is not morally superior to other ways of living.
B*llsh*t article.....
There is a difference between an evironmentalist and a conservationist......
What the author self-describes as is a Conservationalist......yet obviously doesn’t know the difference.....
The Sierra Club was originally a conservation group but was taken over by radical environmentalists.... just like most conservation groups......
I stop reading the moment I see the word “carbon.”
There are polutants. But carbon isn’t one of them.
The atmosphere is already dangerously low in carbon. Ask any plant.
Environmentalists consider it a form of virtuous sacrifice.
Well, have fun, but it's a bit like a flea trying to "steward" the planet because the forces of nature are many, many times that of pitiful ole mankind.
Certainly a man-centric point of view. We are, indeed, fleas on the planet and in the universe.
Well, never mind, then. I guess I’ve perfected the art of being a Conservationist, an Environmentalist, a Farmer and a Fiscal Conservative all through my own efforts.
I win. :)
As long as I have less a carbon foot per year than Algore does in a week, I’m happy.
Thanks for the ping. Feel free to link it to the gardening thread at any time or next Friday, if you’d like more people to see it.
However, some might find it a bit too political, if you know what I mean, but I just kick off the ball, and let the people on the ping list go wherever they may. So give it a go-up to you.
Meh. Nobody here appreciates the same things WE do. I’ll give it a rest. ;)
That's not being frugal, although for many owners the emotional pride and virtue signaling is well worth the higher cost.
I don’t mind digging through crap, if I find a few pearls of wisdom. LOL
Me, either. But, that makes us unique in this crowd, I guess.
Hurray! :)
Vive la uniqueness!LOL
