Joining her father President Donald Trump on his trip through the Middle East, Ivanka Trump has dressed more modestly than usual, and that streak has continued during their visit to Israel.
The first daughter was photographed wearing a rarely seen accessory (at least on her): a hat. She wore the small navy hat perched on one side on her head, with a headband securing the velvet topper. Her hair was styled in a soft chignon at the nape of her neck.
Hats are worn by Orthodox Jewish women following the concept of Tzniut, which is Hebrew for modesty or humility in both dress and behavior. Orthodox women will opt for loose clothing in muted colors that do not draw attention, long-sleeve tops, skirts long enough to cover the knee while sitting and close-toed shoes. And in some traditional communities, women will wear a hat after marriage, especially at a synagogue or Holy site.
The Western Wall, which Ivanka visited today, is Judaisms holiest prayer site.
The rest of her look was also more modest than whats typically seen from Ivanka, who converted to Judaism in 2009 before marrying husband Jared Kushner.

A previous 'First Daughter' took her stylish hat apparel cues from her mother.
Don’t know if the show goes into it, but the crocheted kipas for men indicate identification with the Religious Zionist movement as opposed to black satin or velvet kipas or hats for traditional Orthodox and chassidim. Don’t know if crocheted head coverings for women carry the same meaning.
oops..not so fast...

So lovely.
can’t remember if they wore crochet. there were a lot of different kinds that the men wore.
It delved into a lot of religious suffering and angst in the modern age for modern men and women who wanted to be religious....much of which flew right by me.
The new “rules” weren’t implemented and the sexes are still officially separated although some mixed groups occasionally violate the rules.

“There was the male character who spent the night with a woman only to panic in the morning that he had no tefillin. But he refused to borrow from a neighbour, considering the tefillin on offer contaminated the tefillin-owning neighbour was a woman.”
I think she’s demonstrating not a belief in the moral necessity of such modesty, but respect for the holiness of the place, and the beliefs of those who do find such modesty morally necessary.
No, I don’t believe that in that it was just about the visit to the Wall. It was the whole visit. She wore it for more than just going to the wall.
So what you say may apply..but to the entirety of the visit.
Give me a break.

Orthodox Jews don’t put on head coverings and take them off at whim in Israel.
Many Orthodox Jews don’t wear them. But if you do and it is not a publicity stunt..you wear it..
She kept it on at the Presidents Residence. So it wasnt just at a Holy Site. She should be keeping it on until she leaves.
Love Ivanka. What a role model for American women. Same for Melania. All Trump women for that matter(shout out to Tiffany).
A large portion of Israelis are atheists. Its not a real religious place. They are Jews like Italians are Italian. Its more ethnic than religious. Western wear is the clothing preference. They don’t walk around with head coverings except for the most Orthodox.
Ivanka is likely trying to make some kind of statement but it seems a little contrived. Most people don’t go to the wailing wall trying to look like an Audrey Hepburn movie.
She is showing respect for her faith while visiting it’s beginning point
Quit being a prig
Oh puhleeze
Since when do you know what ivanka thinks or feels?
You are assuming she is orthodox in her faith. She more likely is conservative
Since you don’t know just quit You sound like a cranky old jealous person
Are you Jewish?
