Border wall funding shrinks in Trump's 2018 budget (Trump, FUND THE WALL!!!)
Dallas News ^ | Tod Gillman

Posted on 05/22/2017 4:36:59 PM PDT by cba123

WASHINGTON — The White House has drastically scaled back demands for funds to construct a border wall, seeking $1.6 billion in the budget headed for Congress on Tuesday — $1 billion less than announced just two months ago.

And there is still no plan to force Mexico to pay for the project as the president vowed throughout the campaign.

The Trump budget blueprint rolled out in mid-March called for $4.1 billion toward wall construction by the end of 2018. The stopgap budget that runs through Sept. 30 includes $1.5 billion for border security, but in cutting the deal with Democrats, President Donald Trump dropped a demand to use any funding from that budget directly on building a barrier along the Southwest border.

The White House will formally submit the plan on Tuesday. Presidents' budgets amount to suggestions, and lawmakers routinely shrug off such input from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Trump, I am sorry to be obsessed with the wall.

But YOU PROMISED.

BUILD. THE. WALL.

Do not slow down on this. Build it. All of it.

Right now.

I will not be at all surprised if you don’t see, out of that $20b in Saudi “infrastructure” money, about $10b or so in a direct grant to the state of TX for the purpose of building the wall.

Congress could do NOTHING about this. As long as it is built (by the state) to fed specs, this would be an workable end run around Congress which is going to try to cut the funding. Moreover, he can then do the same with AZ, using all Congressional money for CA and NM where there are less sympathetic governors.

From the article:

White House budget director Mick Mulvaney said at the time that there was too little time left in 2017 to start building a new wall, and he touted the $1.5 billion as sufficient to repair and upgrade existing fencing, and to work on roads and planning for a more ambitious barrier.

He also promised that the other $2.6 billion toward wall construction would be included in the 2018 budget plan, for a total of $4.1 billion.

But Trump’s 2018 plan includes just $1.6 billion toward the wall, according to details shared by aides.

If the lilly livered spineless creeps that we call Republicans can’t ‘afford’ to push the ‘yes’ button, the American People will fund the wall, and we will maintain it and we will say who goes in and out of our country...

You prizzy pink laced panties wearers in the ‘swamp’ can’t stand for something, then by darn The American Voters, that you by the way work for, will!!!

He doesn’t need Congress to end the illegal and unconstitutional DACA program.

I thought the Art of the Deal was to ask for a lot more than you were ready to settle for. So why didn’t the administration ask for $9 billion and then settle for $5 billion after negotiations?

Is Trump going wobbly on the wall?

This was the centerpiece of his entire presidential campaign. What the hell is he doing? Makes absolutely no sense.

And there is still no plan to force Mexico to pay for the project as the president vowed throughout the campaign.

*************

But options exist and can be put in place later, imo.

Example:
Raise the transfer fee for money sent to Mexico each Thursday about 3pm.

To tell the truth I don’t give a flying fig, WHO pays, but I am very much concerned with Trump backing off on this issue.

There is a big segment of the GOP, which is open-borders sell-out.

That is WHY Trump won. But now our guy, the champion, the guy everyone voted for, because of this issue, is backing off?

Trump you RAN ON THIS ISSUE. And global trade.

Which incidentally, you also have not stood up for yet, either.

Read my lips: No new taxes!!! Read my lips: We are going to build a big, beautiful wall and Mexico will pay for it. See any similarities?

What I hadn’t thought about during campaign when Trump was promising wall, Trump possibly not considering it either, is that even though Trump is now pres, the feds are still working within Obama’s last budget, the ’16-’17 federal budget ending in Sept. 30, 2017.
2017 United States federal budget

I understand that Trump is rolling up his sleves with respect to things like his wall for the ’17-’18 federal budget.

Corrections, insights welcome.

Not worried.

1. If media reports it, be skeptical.

2. Listen to/watch DJT and not the media.

3. Realize DJT has built plenty of things, and knows how to get it done. Monies not specifically designated for a wall may still be used for a wall.

4. Relax.

:)
