That was a big sea lion that grabbed that girl into the water. Theyre unpredictable and have a wild streak. Wallerstein, who rescues mostly distressed sea lions, said.
No matter where you are along the Southern California coast, there are sea lions there. Theyre cute, but they can be very dangerous.
Theyre aggressive. Youve gotta respect them. Theyre mean, theyre tough, Redondo Beach fisherman Scott Gilmartin said.
The girl appeared unharmed.

The big Beachmaster California sea lions are aggressive and unpredictable. Best not to feed them.
I don’t think the sea lion was going to eat the girl - think the sea lion was playing.
Not playing like a puppy would, but like a rowdy teenager might.
Wild animals are exactly that, wild.
The Disney-fication of wildlife has made people stupid......................
Sea lions love Chinese food...
Be a good symbol for a political party...
(Originally the elephant was chosen to represent strength
in knocking down government corruption.)
Since the Rhinos have now wrecked the old GOP, how about a new Reform Party (with a sea lion with bared fangs as a symbol)?
Sea Lions are like Democrat voters.
Throw em a fish and they’re happy.
I remember the Madagascar movies portrayed them as pretty vicious.
My dad had an "incident" with another family of tourists in Yellowstone. Mom and Dad were watching a small herd of buffalo amble across the road - apparently, when you're as big as a large vehicle, you amble pretty much wherever you've a mind to....
Anyhoo, the idiots in the car behind them sent their children out to pose next to the cute little baby buffaloes. Needed some good pics for the folks back home, you see.
Dad jumped out of the car, grabbed the kids and got them into his car just a bit before they were stomped flat by Momma Buffalo. He's been in the woods for all of his life, and he's not one for hyperbole or drama, so when Dad said, "It was a near thing", that meant "There was buffalo slobber on the backs of the kids shirts".
Idiot tourist family flips out and goes after Dad. Park Ranger gets involved. Dad calmly explains the situation to the Ranger, who replies, "Yep. We see this all the time.", then goes and chews on the idiot tourists.
Doubt that they learned anything.
But he was so cute. And he just wanted to play.
They are to be watched not played with..
LOL!.........That was Dreamworks, not Disney......but the principle applies!.............
I think you give Disney too much credit. Most people get that way on their own, plus I think stupid is hereditary............
You’re probably right.
Nature usually rewards stupidity with death, so it doesn’t spread to the next generation...................
I saw a similar thing though it was a pair of adults. They got out of their car and were posing within 3 FEET of a bull elk in Jasper Park.
Idiots!
Dumbest. Parents. Ever. The Lion had already jumped towards her, and they still let her sit with her back to it. Had he bit her body instead of her shirt, she would be dead, or need a kidney transplant. The bite of a Sea Lion is FIVE TIMES stronger than a pit bull.
I was watching it with my little cousin, I remember the movie as mildly humorous but I especially remember that scene as it was a bit scary for him.
I have seen the same thing with moose here in northern NH.
People will pose with their kids 10’ away from a moose.
Children are a lot tougher than adults think.
When I was a kid, 50’s and 60’s, Frankenstein, the Mummy, Werewolves and Vampires were the scariest things, but even as kids we knew they were not real................
What you did there............I SEE IT.........
