Pair dies less than 1 hour 30 minutes apart

LAKE JACKSON, Texas - After nearly 62 years of marriage, Lake Jackson couple Tom and Delma Ledbetter left this world about two weeks ago.

“Mama was from Nebraska, and daddy was from Arkansas,” said Donetta Nichols.

Nichols is one of the Ledbetters' daughters. She tells us the couple first met in their early 20s through mutual friends.

“He was stationed in Florida and my mother and her girlfriend had moved to Florida,” she said.

Their first date of sorts happened when Tom had to “just move his car.”

“They drove around two, three different blocks or whatever and they came back and they parked and he said he reached over and he grabbed her hand and he said, 'I don't know what made me do it.' He said, 'I just reached over and gave her a kiss on the cheek,'” Nichols said.

Three weeks later, they were married. Two daughters soon followed, then grandchildren and then great-grandchildren. It was a life filled with love and laughter. Then, in April of this year, Delma fell ill and did not recover.

“They couldn't get a pulse. They couldn't get a blood pressure. They couldn't get anything. Yet mama was just hanging on to something,” said Donetta.

A few days later, Tom too fell ill.

“We got him over to the nursing home with Mama. They had pushed their little beds together and Mama was laying right there, facing him. She was asleep and Daddy goes and he reached over there and he grabbed ahold of her hand and he just laid there with her, and it was so sweet,” Nichols said.

Not long after, Tom died. Delma followed, not even an hour and a half later. Their lives ended the same way their relationship began – holding hands.

“I mean, it was exactly how they wanted to go. It couldn't have been any better,” Nichols said.

From hospice to funeral home to final resting place, Tom and Delma didn't leave each other's side. Now, at Restwood Memorial Park, they'll never have to.

>>I stupidly married.

Maybe you should ponder the “stupidly” part.

Whose responsibility was that?

Thinking with the little head or the big one?

I honored my vows. She did not.

The only stupid thing I did was buy into society’s BS about marriage. Screw society and its brainwashing.

Perhaps you don’t know who you are talking to.

I’ll tell you to WHO you are talking to now. I’m not some simp, blue-pill mangina who is expendable for society and women. I’ve taken the Red Pill.

I will never get married again. I tell anyone I meet who is thinking about marriage how the divorce and family law systems work.

Every man I save from marriage and society’s brainwashing is a man who will never divorce or be cheated on.

So what. Someone wins Russian roulette once in a while. That doesn’t make you Captain America.

I’m not impressed.

And I’m free of women.

Thanks for posting this, Red. Research is making it very clear that the bond of love between mates is a force of nature.

Whose responsibility was your mate selection?

Was that decision made using biblical criteria - or... maybe some other “thinking” criteria:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/hugh-hefners-life-story-you-should-watch-it-for-the_us_58e6f1cbe4b0acd784ca56e6?utm_hp_ref=playboy

Odd how so many folks piss and moan about the consequences of living in hedonistic self-worshiping culture, after they created it.

Uhuh.

The children you had and/or adopted happy to hear that, are they?

Excuses are like __________.

I had 25 very good years with my first wife. After her death, I remarried a widow and we've had 11 .. going on 25+ .. good years as well. And the second is as different as night and day with the first one.

Women have evolved to be good at hiding who they are. The only real red flag I had was that she failed bootcamp.

Having been in the military myself, I know that it is not for everyone.

Until the laws and the courts change, the only mate selection that makes sense is NO selection. Women are simply not worth the risk anymore.

As far as your Bible goes, I think even Paul said not getting married was preferable.

Yeah. Nothing like getting flamed for supporting marriage on “The internet’s premier conservative site”.

SMH.

If so then I’m not the only person that didn’t RTFM:

“non-Christians divorce at a rate of 38 percent, Born-again Christians 33 percent, atheists 30 percent and Catholics at 28 percent, according to a recent survey of 3,792 participants.” (Survey by Barna Group, Barna.com)

TFM is insufficient to prevent divorce or cheating.

Not getting married can prevent divorce and cheating 100% of the time.
