FULL TITLE: Another headache for United: Passenger claims airline cancelled his flight reservation because he filmed a dispute with an employee
A United Airlines customer claims his flight reservation was cancelled because he videotaped an employee during a dispute.
Navang Oza, 37, was checking in for a flight to San Francisco from New Orleans on Monday when he was told the fee for his over-sized bag would be $300, according to the New York Post.
Oza complained, stating that the fee was only $125 for the same piece of luggage on his trip there, and when he didn't get a satisfactory answer he began to record the interaction.

several thoughts on this.....why in the world would anyone be charged 300 dollars to simply transport your belongings in a bag...next, I am getting so tired of these folks pulling out their phones and start playing Cub Reporter for virtually no reason...these phones are dangerous and have no doubt gotten people injured or killed....and last United has to get this crap right, or get out of the business. This crap is maddening.
I took a United flight a few weeks ago. Never Again, the staff barked orders at us and generally treated us like cattle
Southwest gives you two bags free per person.
A while back in Atlanta Delta, they wanted to charge us $150 for an overweight bag that had our test equipment we have to fly with. Booked in business class, we said we’d cancel and reschedule with SW. Delta reduced the fee to $50.
A lesson we learned quickly was to skimp on the hotel but never to skimp on the airline ticket. Always book business or first class. In coach, you’re cattle in a chute.
United has sucked for decades. I doubt the latest publicity will make a difference. The secret is out and has been for a long time.
We actually need more of these interactions filmed.
Self loading cattle at that.
Why is this stuff constantly being reported?
It’s getting ridiculous.
Airlines, and other companies, treat the public poorly all of the time.
This United thing is being overdone.

you need to fly different airlines. I fly overseas about 6-9 times a year ( coach ) and there are airlines that still
treat their customers with care
Only one overdoing things seems to be United. Looks like to me they decided to double down on their business model which seems to be the same as that of most livestock haulers.
I’ll give you four overseas airlines which are customer-friendly: Quantas, Singapore Air, Finn Air and Lufthansa. I flew all four last year and was surprised at the effort to make passengers feel welcome.
That said, I also have two overseas airlines which I won’t fly again: Air Berlin and Pegasus Airlines. Pegasus has fairly old aircraft, and has probably the worst desk support staff that I’ve ever run into.
I can tell you one way the price can be different for to much luggage. if you check your luggage with a porter when you get to the airport terminal often times the porter will check the items in with out charging you. all you have to do is tip them really good. when I did it the one time I did it the tip was 40 dollars and the porter checked 5 large boxes that I had along with my suitcase. the porter by passed the ticketing agent and took my items through. this was pre 9-11 so you might not be able to get away with it today. also it is not the most honest thing to do.
Luhfthansa is my preferred airline to
Europe by far. Agreed
United is my favorite airline. Air travel is a pain and the air carriers many times get an undeserved bad rap. Not a dimes bit of difference for the most part among the legacy carriers(Delta,United,American). Southwest is pretty good but not always the lowest cost.
Good Lord, who uses videotape in this day and age?
What term should be used nowadays? Filmed? Taped? Digitized?
No film or tape used, so the first two are out. Digitized is too general, lacks relation to image capture. How about (video)recorded?
Our family went on a once in a lifetime trip to Russia years ago. We were traveling with elderly in-laws and three small children. Flew Lufthansa and they were so considerate of all our “special” travelers.
