You have insurance? Then your provider should handle it for you.

Insurance companies do not repair the car for you, they give you money to get your car repaired. Send them the bill or estimate.

You may want to contact the Insurance Commissioner in the state in which the accident occurred, giving him the specific details and asking his office to assist you in getting a response form the errant insurance company.

Keep copious notes on everything that transpires, who you talk to, note the dates and times. It’s often the little details that win the wars.

Also, if you write better than you speak, write down the problems you are having and take them to your insurance company. There are also apps you can use that will translate Chinese to English.

Your insurance company should be staying on top of this. If you haven't taken your car to a body repair shop for an estimate of what repairs would cost, you need to do that. Do you work or go to school with anyone who could recommend a body shop to take it to? Your insurance company should have also had an adjustor come to look at the damages, and take photos. If your insurance company has a local office or agent, you should take your car there and tell them everything that has happened so far. My local agent has taken photos of damages and sent them to the company. Your insurance should pay for the repairs, and pay for a rental if that is part of your policy. You will be responsible for any deductible you have in your policy.

I don't know what insurance company you have, but they should have already been pursuing this, and had your car in the repair shop. I have Travelers car insurance, and the last time someone hit me, my insurance paid for the damage, then went after the other person's insurance company for reimbursement. And because I am covered for a rental car while my car was being repaired, I wasn't left without a vehicle. You need to be more aggressive with your insurance company if you do not feel they are serving you properly. That's what you pay them for. Your car should have already been repaired.

OK .. contact YOUR insurance company and arrange for the repairs to be made. You will most likely have to pay the deductible on your policy. Once the repairs are scheduled and/or completed ... your insurance company will begin pursuing the at-fault driver’s insurance company for the cost of the repair and POSSIBLY your deductible as well.

This procedure is called subrogation or sometimes also referred to as pay and chase. (As in, an insurance company will pay out to make a policyholder whole and then chase down the other insurance company for the money paid out.)

It may take a bit ... but it IS the fastest way to get your vehicle repaired.

I hope this helps.

CB, is there a branch near you where you can visit in person? You may have to wait until tomorrow because many businesses are closed on Sunday.

Have you already had the damage estimate from a body shop? Your insurance company should recommend one.
