I had a professor this semester who is a community organizer from Chicago (I kid you not). He was utterly worthless, I am one of a number of students who reported him for being worthless, and he hates me (because he always did and) because the administration has evidently cracked down on him.
He holds a chokehold over EVERY student in my discipline, since every student will have to take this ONE professor for one worthless (waste of money), but required course.
What do I do? This is so wrong. So very very heinously wrong. He is so worthless, and so transparently partisan, yet he gets to pick winners and losers, and I am going into debt for this degree!
This is a Republican area. With a Republican alumnus base, and a Republican legislature. I am in absolute despair and am utterly depressed. Please give me advice.
They managed to make you think life is about outward looks. That you figured out yourself. You showed every sign of such thinking.
That’s Satan in a nutshell.
There you go lying again. Never said anything about life being about outward looks.
The Bard had it right.... “To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.”
Life is full of instances in which compromise is necessitated but we get to choose the extent to which we are willing to do so for desired results.
If I were in your shoes... I would follow what I believe in my mind and heart to be right. I would do so in a respectful manner to the professor and would make sure that all my product was very, very good.
If he grades you unfairly on something you have done well due to dissenting opinion, state your case give him an opportunity to change your grade and then take it up with the administration.
It seems like he is already taking some heat and probably does not want more of it. It’s also important to remember that the university may have certain rights to make public what students have submitted and you don’t want to have that dangeling over your head.
Cheers and wishing you success in your endeavors.

Or confront the community organizer teacher and blow your grade and be forced to start over.
Or transfer to another major or course of study or transfer schools where you don't have to deal with the professor. But just know, you may end up having another teacher just like him somewhere else.
Learn when to pick your battles and when to keep your ammo dry. Your goal here is to graduate, not to make political statements or partisan stands.
So my advice, is to buckle down and accept that this teacher is a Leftie and hope that after you graduate, you don't have a boss like him. Swallow hard, do what he requires and get through the class with as little grief as possible.
Fair or not, sometimes in life, you're the dog and sometimes you're the fire hydrant. Learn to roll with the punches and come back up fighting another day.
I knew it had to be English - or History! That’s a pity because it’s an important subject and shouldn’t be reduced to Trump, GOP-bashing and the gay agenda, lol.
I would say go along to get along. But I will not say it in the nasty way other freepers are saying it - the embittered old men who sold out and now want you to sell out.
I do like the idea of finishing up the course and then letting rip on Rate Your Professor.
...PASS the course!...keep a low profile...
“revenge is a dish best served cold”...gather your fellow classmates AFTER
the course is completed and as a group EXPOSE the bassturd as incompetent, useless, and highly politically bias....
>>This could be a false dichotomy on your part.<<
Nope. Stand up to professor, get an F. Get an F, flunk out.
No dichotomy there.
You can take a no-credit grade from him, after you find out what make-up course you could take some other semester, or in an extra semester period, just for the credits to meet credit requirements to graduate.
If that is not possible, then let it be what it will be with him, while you look into transferring schools to continue your courses toward your degree.
As long as you are in his course, and while you have no out from it, lie, give him the answers you know he wants to hear. Your grade may be a lie too, but it will be so because you had to lie to get it. Don’t feel bad or guilty if that’s what you have to do. He shouldn’t be there. But he is. You can’t go around him, so go under him, lie and be who he wants and likes. All the while know you are in your way “sticking it to him”.
Contact an organization called FIRE in Philly and the National Association of Scholars - both conservative groups which look out for freedom of speech and academic standards in higher education - you might also contact some of the Republican alumni to see if it might be suggested to the school’s administration that their alumni contributions might suffer if this “Professor” isn’t controlled a bit....
Well, you’ve gotten a ton of useful advice so I’ll add some not so useful but fun... shove a sawed off shotgun in his crotch and ask him if he feels lucky.
Tell this idiot you’re paying his salary. Tell him he works for you, not the other way around and tell him you want help to pass the course.
Thank you, will do :)
Outside of you, people are actually giving this young person reasonable advice. All we know about this person is that she/he is in a course with a lousy teacher who is getting on his/her case. Outside of that, we know nothing.
These kind of things happen to all of us in every stage of life. We can’t always up and quit. Rate Your Professor is there for a reason. I can’t wait until I finish culinary school because my professor and his nasty lab assistants are going to get an earful.
Suck it up buttercup.
Finish the course. Tell him what he wants to hear. Avoid any personal interaction or any extraneous interaction.
Forget about seeking justice or revenge, Just get through it.
you already screwed the pooch by making an enemy of someone who has power over you for just a short time.
One college course is not a hill to die on.
Welcome to the real world.
If this was a job, Id give you the same advice while telling you to be looking for a new job real hard and quietly
The abhorrent state of education even under Bush II was not as bad as it is now. The billions of tax payer dollars currently being wasted on student loans must stop. Immediately.
I object to my tax dollars funding these liberal cesspools almost as much as I do funding Planned Parenthood.
“The abhorrent state of education even under Bush II was not as bad as it is now.”
Source?
“I object to my tax dollars funding these liberal cesspools almost as much as I do funding Planned Parenthood.”
Me, too.
I also object to the Nazi pigs at EPA designating my back 40 as a wetland. We should dig up Nixon from his grave and hang the SOB from a lamppost.
Carry on, Responsibility2nd.
English...graphics design...oh for heaven’s sake, do whatever you have to do, to get that sheepskin. I never buy anybody’s graphics without checking to see that #1 piece of wall art. Same deal with English majors. Who’d hire one who hadn’t a classy diploma on the wall? How else are you to know if they’re any good?
You don’t let a bad teacher get in the way of your education and goals. If this is what you want to do then you can find a way to the finish line.
You will meet a lot of asshats in life. You will have to deal with them everywhere but you don’t let them keep you from your goals. Work hard and in a couple of months you can forget him forever.
Lie and kiss his butt if you believe he will dock your grade because of your political persuasion or beliefs. Perfectly moral.
