WP reviewer Carlos Lozada is a hardcore leftist/liberal so I don’t think he is going to know what is relevant about Obama’s life or not.
For instance, he doesn’t mention anything about “who” in Chicago politics influenced his decision to go that way. The list of actual and possible Communist Party USA members and Soviet assets is very important - Quentin Young, Milton Cohen, David Simon Canter (KGB asset, refused to register as an agent of a foreign power, Don Rose (and the Canter/Rose protege’ David Axelrod, also from a leftist, to some degree, family, and possibly Alice Palmer and her husband, both CP-sympathizers. Can’t forget the Bill Ayers-Bernadine Dohrn connection, or the Rabbi Arnold Wolf (neighbor, leftist) connection, or the Louis Farakhan possible connection, and the very famous Rev. Jeremiah Wright. All did or could have had major influences on Obama’s decision to go into local/state politics and then on to bigger things.
And least we forget, what about Saul Alinsky’s influence on Obama? I’ve met Alinsky. He was a slimy Marxist hiding behind a grandfatherly smile and “Marxism pushing under the guise of populist, people power talk”.
The “Kansas” part of Obama’s life could be very important (I haven’t read much on it but Frank Marshall Davis was involved in the state for a while).
Garrow is a pretty good historian but he often came upon information that he did not know how to properly place in history, or even the significance of it (including his lucky findings of Operation SOLO which would have exposed the FBI’s deep secret penetration of the Kremlin by using a former CPUSA leader turned anti-Soviet thinker, Morris Childs (Operation SOLO, John Barron, 1995).
However, I think his book should be read because it could show us more about Obama’s mental state over time as he begins to get his leftist messianic Marxist persona and mission from his time in Chicago, a strategic center of Communist/Marxist operations and influence since the 1930’s.
I suppose could be any kind of relationship. Even homosexuals often have had some kind of sexual dealings with the opposite sex, but it’s such a repulsive topic....

I doubt if this “biography” will be any more accurate that Bill Ayers’ ghost written “Dreams” so-called autobiography.
