Full Title: U.S. Air Force Stages Epic Elephant Walk at Kadena Air Base Japan Amid Growing Tension With North Korea

The images in this post show an impressive Elephant Walk carried out by fully armed U.S. Air Force aircraft belonging to the 18th Wing, at Kadena Air Base, Japan.

During Elephant Walks military aircraft taxi in close formation right before a minimum interval takeoff.

This kind of exercise is often performed at airbases all around the world (including South Korea), to prepare squadrons for wartime operations: what’s important is to test crews capability to quickly and safely prepare fully armed aircraft for a mass launch.

Okinawa, and Kadena especially, is literally crawling with North Korean intelligence and military. This show was for them. Kimmie watched this in real-time guaranteed

Fat Boy is gonna have some trouble sleeping.

Obama isn’t around to tell him where and when to hide.

An even more impressive alert would involve a MITO (minimum interval takeoff) of 15 seconds +/-.

When I was stationed at Grand Forks in the missile wing my flying friends in the bomb wing used to brag about sub-ten second intervals.

I always laugh when the fighter weenies talk about "Elephant Walks" as that was the term used for bombers and tankers; the big boys.

Officially Korea was a "police action", to use the euphemism Truman coined to get around asking for a war declaration from Congress. The fact that Congress let him get away with that is to their shame as well. The U.S. hasn't had a constitutional war since WW II.

I'm not completely sure of that.

Anything like the old ORI (OPERATIONAL READINESS INSPECTION) from the 1960s SAC?

But there is still no formal state of war since that hasn’t been done since 12/8/1941.

Harry consistently called it a "Police Action."

I read here yesterday that we don’t know where his subs are. That worries me.

I’m pretty sure the USN has a pretty good bead on Lil’ Kim’s subs. I would bet $$ that there is at least one SSN and a P-8A tracking each of his beaters.

Hope we’re also tracking surface ships. All NK freighters and all freighters that have stopped in NK in the last month or two.

Still waiting to see a Raptor elephant walk. Then again that would qualify as NSFW because of the awesome on the runway.

That does not strike me as a terror-inducing assembly of aircraft.

There have been 5 since 12/8/41. Italy & Germany on 12/11/41 and Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria on 6/4/42. But you are right in that WWII was the last time we declared war.
