Former IRS senior executive Lois G. Lerner told a federal court this week that she faces the possibility of death threats if her role in the tax agency’s tea party targeting becomes public, and asked a judge to forever seal her upcoming deposition in a class action lawsuit brought by hundreds of groups that were targeted.
Mr. Lerner and Holly Paz, another figure from the IRS’s tea party targeting, told the judge they’ve already faced “harassment and death threats” before, when the press was intently covering the tea party scandal. “Mss. Lerner and Paz have demonstrated that the public dissemination of their deposition testimony would expose them and their families to harassment and a credible risk of violence and physical harm,” they said in documents submitted by their lawyer to Judge Michael R. Barrett.
Both Ms. Lerner and Ms. Paz are among IRS figures who’ve been ordered to be deposed in the class action lawsuit. Ms. Paz already gave one deposition in the case in 2015. The women want that past deposition, and their future testimony, to remain hidden from the public and only available to the lawyers involved in the case. They asked that the seal be permanent. That said, the Republican controlled Congress were complicit in letting the IRS crooks off the hook--some of them were fellow swamp creatures, but most were just plain ineffectual. In a case of this magnitude and import, you just don't throw up your hands and say, "waddya gonna do?" There's more than one way to skin a cat, and waging all out war on every available front should have been the daily order of business. Judicious and creative use of the power of the purse would have been a start.
Once the rule of law collapses, and America becomes resigned to corruption and different sets of laws for politicians, patricians, elites and the rest of America, it's over.

Fake news. As with everything else from that evil woman, I assume the “death threats” were lies invented by her.
As malicious and abusive as that woman was, I don’t want her murdered. I want her shunned. I want her family (if any) shunned, friendless, and alone forever. I want her prosecuted and sent to prison for many decades, preferably the rest of her life. I want everything she owns auctioned off to pay restitution to her victims. Many decades from now, I want her funeral to be a pauper’s funeral with an unmarked grave and no one in attendance (or her ashes fed to pigs). But I don’t want her physically harmed by civilians - that would be as unlawful as her routine actions in the IRS.
