The Tar Heels won this year's NCAA championship, beating Gonzaga on Monday and claiming the 2017 title.
Williams said after the game, according to NBC, that he needed to 'think on' a visit to the White House, in a break with tradition.
Just last month Williams lit into the president for tweeting out 'bulls***' as he commented on the changing media landscape.

Must be true because Daily Mail got it from NBC who got it from the same source that says they skipped the 2005 trip.
They were NOT invited to the White House in in 2005.
Pre-game on Friday Williams said when asked about a WH visit that he does not think about things like that before games.
Post-game he said “I don’t know if we will be invited, I really don’t.”
Roy Williams is a good basketball coach but he’s a democrat. He comes from the democrat stronghold of Western, NC, born and raised in Marion, not far from Asheville. I was born and raised in NC, and always was a Tar Heel fan. But when I was a kid paid no atttention to politics. Dean Smith, who taught Williams everything he knows about basketball, was also a democrat. But Williams needs to keep his damn shut about the president and I’m sure the team will be going to the White House.
No surprise Williams is tap dancing to the PC tune since he and his school is under heavy NCAA investigation.
Investigation should have been settled years ago. Most of it involves football players. I’d be surprised if the basketball team faces sanctions. Might be wrong. But who knows.
And then there is Dawn Staley, coach of the Lady Gamecocks of South Carolina, who won the women’s National Championship. The first question she was asked was whether she would allow a visit to the White House. Staley, who is African American, said they would be “honored” to go to the White House. Come on Mr. President -— bring in the Lady Gamecocks. Tell the Heels to take a hike.
Yea...well, I’d like the NCAA to rule on whether North Carolina will be punished for creating scam class/course work for basketball and football players for the last 20 years.
It’s up to the players. Any that go should tell him to drop dead.
