Why not, today’s music sucks so much, a 50 year old album will probably sell like hotcakes.
The music of the 50’s - 70’s was the best. It will probably never be repeated.
“It was fifty years ago today....”
50th Anniversary? Impossible. My mom bought that for me a week after it was on the shelves. No way that was 50 years ago!
Despite it’s influence, I personally think this album is overrated. Other than A Day In The Life and Good Morning, Good Morning, I dont care for the songs on it.
But thats just me.

I believe this was the Beatles last album before John Lennon got involved with Yoko Ono.
The Beatles were doing some good stuff then with Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt. Pepper.
Then Yoko broke up Lennon’s marriage, made him abandon his son, broke up the Beatles and turned Lennon into a drunk, whiny, leftist househusband.
Over 30 new, unreleased Beatles songs?!?!?
I remember buying that when it was first released and giving it to a baby sitter for Christmas.
I was afraid that she wouldn’t like it———but she did.
.
Will they replace some of the dreck on side 2 with something listenable?
Now everyone thinks it’s normal to sit at home and watch a two hour movie, but hardly anyone will sit and listen to a 40 minute album. Folks still listen to music, but it seems to be mostly listening while doing something else, working, exercising, driving, cleaning, whatever. Which is better than nothing I guess, I do it too sometimes.
The vinyl craze actually gives me hope, at least they care enough to actually mess around with it instead of putting in ear buds or whatever.
Freegards
Brian Wilson. Pet Sounds. A much better record
Huge album for my sixth grade year
Doesn’t age well as the Stones
Very little Beatles does
What stands out most from all those Beatles records is but particularly Pepper and Abbey is the clarity and arrangements of George Martin and Geoff Emmerick
The best sound quality versions are the 24-bit remasters....even better than the 16-bit CDRs I have that were burned from the original master tapes. Thankfully, noise reduction technology in the remasters was limited to less than 5% of the entire catalog.
I highly doubt if this 50th anniversary version was taken from the above remasters.
As an aside, I remember when Pepper was released, the mono version was $2.89 and the stereo version was $3.89.
Oh, thank goodness. It's such a hard album to otherwise find or access we definitely need yet another format/release.
50 years later “When I’m 64” is appropriate. I think the “Reprise, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band” is a great song. Agreed that “Rubber Soul” and “Revolver” are better recordings and “Pet Sounds” by the Beach Boys is in that group.
