So did they oppose Ryancare cuz it sucked or to hurt Trump? Do people like Mo Brooks really want to simply repeal or is he just bluffing and throwing us red meat knowing it wont go anywhere? People are all over the map on this and the only way we can continue winning is to be unified. I am noob and pretty uninformed on individual voting records etc. But like everyone else here I want as much of obamacare as possible GONE ASAP. I would appreciate feedback on the best strategey on achieving this goal
We only have one president, and his name is Trump. Many of those FC people were nevertrump or squishy in support. They also know if Ryan put up a straight repeal he would lose other Republicans who at worried about what happens when large numbers of people who lost their previous healthcare suddenly don’t have anything at all. IMHO all Pubs should back Trump at this point, and that includes funding the wall. Otherwise there’s a real danger of nothing getting done outside of EOs. Time to stop posturing and start governing. That means everybody makes concessions.
“True Conservatives or just Trump Saboteurs?”
I like to try to look on the positive side. Hopefully they did it because they know how to read and read that it was, in fact, 0bembacare Lite.
“Anything other than full repeal without replacement will irreparably damage our country”
That’s where you are wrong. A bad bill (Ryancare) is better than doing nothing. Ryan cut 1.2 trillion and left many parts intact. It was a good start.
More and more people are becoming dependant on Obamacare everyday and soon it will be impossible to repeal it.
Seriously? Republicans control Congress last I checked. I cannot find one legitimate 'true' conservative in either body of Congress... There are a few that have the language down pat, but that is as far as it gets.
You are absolutely correct. I know that congress exempted themselves, hopefully it could be done with an EO. I do know that it would be one of the most popular EOs the President could issue
“Full repeal or bust!”
Mr. Robinson, although that is what I hope and dream for, the bottom line is that freebies have never been repealed.
I hope I am wrong this time but maybe we are stuck with socialist medicine in one form or another forever.
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“None of them opposed Trump to the extent that Paul Ryan did”
Amash called on Trump to withdraw from the presidential race in October and refused to vote for him. He is one of Hillary’s useful idiots.
But you’re OK with Trump and Ryan telling us that they know better than we do...
Trump is not infallible. While he’s clearly a brilliant businessman - which we need - he has made mistakes and clearly a lot of us think he’s making a big one siding with Ryan and threatening the members of the Freedom Caucus.
Sorry, but Ryancare had NO repeal, and would’ve increased premiums and deductibles! It basically kept almost all of Obamacare! Are you naïve enough to really believe their would’ve been phases 2 & 3?
If they had passed this POS, The Republicans would’ve owned Socialized Medicine in the USA!
You people really make me laugh! You see 30 members of the FC as the problem, but completely ignore the 160 or RINOs who were also against it!
Trump is fracturing his party with these attacks on the FC!
BLOAT and be happy.
No argument on Amash; he’s an ass hat, but you need to look into the things that Paul Ryan said and did, as well as Podesta’s emails that clearly refer to Paul Ryan “PR”. Amash does not represent the entire FC and is no threat to the president whatsoever; Paul Ryan is.
Jefferson, Hamilton, Adams and Franklin agree with my position.
Who supports yours ?
Trump didn’t run on repeal. He said quite clearly and often “repeal and replace.” Like it or not this is who he is. Anyone who believes otherwise is simply projecting.
And magic rainbow unicorns farting skittles!
The latter will happen before the former does.
Obviously the previous votes to repeal Obamacare were nothing but window dressing. Can everyone admit that now?
Otherwise, where are all of these GOP Representatives who sent such legislation to Obama's desk?
Apparently, they were (and are) as full of sh-t as the day is long.
You see, something changed: now we have a President who would actually sign such a bill.
The President isn't the legislature. And aside from that, he's never even been in government before.
It's incumbent on the legislature to produce legislation that is consistent with the President's agenda. Pass anything remotely resembling that, and the President will sign it. But he's the chief executive, not the legislature.
Is the President supposed to write the laws as well? Doesn't he have enough on his table?
The alternative to Ryan-care has to come from somewhere...
So by “you people” you include Trump. By failing to do anything Republicans now own Obamacare. They will get blamed for whatever happens now. That’s reality of politics. People don’t care about details, they blame the party in charge.
The latter will happen. The republicans don’t have the balls for repeal so Obamacare will linger on until it goes bust. It will be a messy death and will be very expensive.
Since never. But the steps taken to move away from Obamacare are very likely to be baby steps; or hasn't that sunk in yet?
You can't realistically expect 100 years of progressive sh-t (and 8 years of Obama's) to be overturned in the first 90 days of the Trump administration, OK? It's simply not realistic.
Politics is the art of the possible, not the whimsical.
It's going to have to be bit by bit, a little here, a chunk there.
Anyone expecting some kind of unrealistic grandiosity simply doesn't know how government works. We have 247 Republicans in the House, and majorities of them aren't going to agree on much, in case you haven't noticed.
Whatever is done in the legislature will have to be done based on consensus, plain and simple.
Live it. Learn it. Love it...
“As far as stopping Obamacare, all funding starts with the House.”
For eight years, EVERY member of the House, yes, you, too, Trey for SIX of them, was COMPLICIT in the Fraud’s crimes against America.
So, you blame 30 people, but ignore the more numerous RINOs. Got it!
