President Donald Trump continued to nurse a grudge against the Freedom Caucus as he lashed out against the ultra-right wing of the Republican Party on Twitter Monday, while also promising cooperation from the Democrats on health care.
Earlier Monday, White House spokesman Sean Spicer suggested Trump might turn to members of the Democratic Party to overhaul Obamacare and the U.S. president seconded that notion on Twitter Monday night.
Trump said the Freedom Caucus of the GOP, known as a particularly right-wing segment of Republican lawmakers, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory after Trump-backed health care legislation was pulled off the table on Friday in an embarrassing moment for the party.

We shall find out if he is more conservative or middle roader. It’s been said HE.. Donald Trump.. is the only one who could turn his voters against him. This is going to be testy.. I would not change my support from Donald Trump.. but a democratic-turned Trump, could make me just as angry at him as I am at the dems/media.
I will not believe it till I see the whites of your eyes telling us you have gone to the dems.. you haven’t done any hard push toward anything yet... and you are going to the enemy for favors... how about giving some demands to those who are supposed to be working FOR you... how about laying down some rules and ‘musts’... and how about holding ryan responsible BEFORE you say anything about the conservatives.. he is not your buddy or friend.. he is in this for himself... Come on, you are smarter than this!! He made up a bill that was shameful for any republican to own.. it was right out of the dems’ playbook..
Don’t push it, President Trump.. don’t think you have friends over there in democratic land... no matter what your beef is... they will turn on you in a millisecond... don’t push it!!
He has a 9% approval among democrats. 9%. The people on DU are the democrat base. Take a stroll though there and you’ll see what they think of him.
Even if Schumer/Pelosi agree with Trump on an issue they can’t support him, and if he moves left to embrace them he will erode his own support among conservatives. Despite Jarod and Ivanka’s best efforts his only shot at avoiding a failed one-term presidency is to stay on the right. The left will never forgive him for destroying Hillary. Pity Dubya never learned this lesson.
Hey Trump...the FC isn’t responsible for your lies about repealing Obamacare. You shot your big mouth off at every rally telling us that you would repeal and replace! You never sad one word about this being done in “Phases!”
The FC is holding you to YOUR promises!
I’m with the Freedom
Caucus on this and I think President Trump is going to find out the hard way that the Dummycrats are not going to make an agreement that’s good for the “American”People.
They will stab him in the back before they agree with him on health care.After all it was a memorial to Lord Obama.
Yes, he should stop.
It isn’t a good idea to alienate anyone.
I don’t hold the FC or anyone in it responsible for the failure, because they were sticking to their word. Repeal. Real damn simple.
I do hold Ryan responsible. His behavior and his bill were both indefensible.
A leader who cannot lead and has no successes is not an asset.
We may be witnessing the second coming of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
BS. This is “Trump vs. Cruz” all over again. If not for a broad coalition of AMERICANS, Trump would not be President (Hillary would be).
The FC is just proving all over again why Ted Cruz lost.
The FC saved the Repubs and, to an extent, Trump from the consequences of a disastrous bill.
***********
True that. To which I would add, Trump put his himself in Ryan’s hands, which of course led to disaster because of Ryan’s inept and secretive handling of the legislation. And as Newt said, Trump should not have done healthcare out of the gate; it would have been better to do infrastructure and tax reform first. These were low lying fruit and could have laid the groundwork for later efforts on the AHCA. Trump himself bears some responsibility for the mismanagement of his own agenda.
Exactly
If you like your ObamaCare - you can keep your ObamaCare
~~~ Donald Trump.
One version I have heard is that the Freedom caucus negotiated and got concessions in the AHCA and then reneged when it came time to vote, i.e. negotiating in bad faith, which does tend to piss off business people. To be successful in business, you have to be willing to say yes to something.
Dems won’t help because they need something to run on against him. They are already saying Obamacare is his baby.
He said he wouldn’t let people die in the streets. He’s been pro-single payer in the past. He’s very candidly said he’d replace Obamacare with something better. He’s still better than Hillary but the margin isn’t as wide as some believed.
Someone here posted that FC is funded by Kochs and other Never Trumpers.
I got a feeling his next rally won’t be so well attended if he keeps this up.
RINOs and FC don’t seem to be able to get along. Ryan is incompetent but If that doesn’t change, Trump can dump the RINOs and go where? Or dump the FC and go to dems who get along with RINOs and get legislation passed. It may be bad legislation but we need to get some things fixed. If we can’t get good fixes from the Rs, Trump will try to at least get some fixes with R+Ds. And I’ll support him even though I prefer FC fixes, because so many current laws are unacceptable and even incremental fixes for taxes, health care, immigration, budget, etc are preferable to doing nothing.
The Freedom Caucus was doing what they promised to do in the last election.
I am NOT going to give Trump a pass because I voted for him.
REPEAL OBAMACARE.
Just go on TV and show all it’s problems. The current costs are through the roof, you can’t keep your doctor OR your plan, etc...
So what that 20 million are “insured” - what good is crappy insurance no one will take?
If true....Trump needs to explain this before he levels his tweets at the conservatives.
The repubs are terrible at explaining anything.
Trump is putting pressure on the FC and leadership (see the “suggestion” of getting Ryan to step down). They all want a deal more than he does now. Moreover, he is using the threat of getting the Democrats to the table as even more pressure against the FC and their ilk. They are going to come to him with something (this is my guess) and he’ll be able to get the things he REALLY wants in their otherwise he’ll just say, I won’t sign it without the Democrats. He has leverage now. Between the Democrats, the FC, the GOP Leadership and Trump it is Trump who now has absolutely no pressure to make a deal because he’s moved on. From a distance he’s looking very cunning.
And that is BS
