I've heard a lot of differing views directing anger, disappointment and relief at the various parties in Washington lately.
So I'm wanting to take a poll.
Did you support passage of Trump's and Ryan's healthcare bill? Or Did you support Freedom Caucus stopping it?
Support FC as represented by Brat article ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3538475/posts ) .
Trump trusted the wrong guy & hopefully learned something in the process. Ryan needs to be gone - never has supported Trump (campaign to the present).
You are right - folks do not trust the government and that makes it almost impossible for Trump to govern. I am willing to give him room to lead and will judge his actions appropriately.
Perhaps it would have been better to have a vote, even if it failed, because then everyone would have been on record.
The reason it didn’t go to a vote is that Paul Ryan would have been embarrassed by how few votes it received. Out of embarrassment to himself, he pulled.
Trump shouldn’t have blamed the conservatives. He didn’t say one negative word against the moderates/liberals in the party (that didn’t support it either!)
Trump is skating on thin ice attacking the FC, and NOT demanding a simple full repeal bill!
The house and senate passed a full repeal bill 6 times last year, and promised to send the same to a republican president!
Ryan Contradicted his own words on this and his promise!
What they tried to pull off with Ryancare only PROVES they were show-voting with Obama in office!
funny!
I wanted a straight repeal but I supported our President. The Freedom Caucus will come around.
From my limited perspective, both of them did good things and bad things during the whole affair.
Trump was good for moving quickly and being willing to work with all of Congress in order to get a bill passed. The bill in question was a pretty crappy starting point, though.
The HFC, on the other hand, was good in standing on principle, but they did it in such a way that I doubt their input will be sought on any future bills, and so it was a defeat for them.
But I admit I don’t know the whole story, and I doubt any of us really do.
It’s the Demoncrats fault for not providing Hope and Change for the health care payments for their peeps by bailing PRyno out.
ahhhh, but he didn’t blame Ryan; he blamed the conservatives. Don’t you find that suspect?
“The Freedom Caucus killed not the bill, but the entire process.”
That was the right thing to do, as each step of the process would have made the bill worse. It was great to kill it in the house, because that was as good as it was going to get, before going downhill quickly.
If Trump is negotiating like a businessman I suspect he is playing one side against the other.
Sorry Paul Ryan, but the "genuine repeal" is not optional, and you should have understood that.
So, I support the FC, and I want Paul Ryan replaced.
I expect Trump to back a genuine repeal. If he does not, I will like him less, but I will probably still like him.
Trump. My Twitter feed indicates more are supporting Trump than FC. Obviously the FC doing nothing to repeal and replace OCare other than talk, talk, talk, is hurting them. A 7 year track record of doing nothing speaks volumes.
Exactly. I have to chuckle at those “supporting” the FC. What exactly are they supporting? Is the 30 member FC going to repeal and replace Obamacare? No. Build the wall? No. Fix trade? No. Cut taxes. No. Etc. In fact the FC have damaged the one person who can engineer that with their arson last week. Outstanding. Democrats are literally dancing in the street thanks to this fratricide.
I strongly support the stance taken by the Freedom Caucus. They pulled Trump’s rear end out of the fire whether he realizes it or not. Trump made a big error in judgment by trusting Ryan and it would have been costly for him if that turkey of a bill had passed.
The Freedom Caucus killed not the bill, but the entire process.
They also killed Trump tax cut plan sinking the bill. Everything is interconnected. I realize the checkers playing dupes of the FC can’t see past tomorrow but that is the fact. We’ll be dealing with this consequences of this betrayal on a daily basis for the rest of the Trump admin.
Paul Ryan is the problem. He pretended that he didn’t want the job. Now he is performing like he meant it. He and his ilk can’t believe the FC made promises to their voters and they intend to keep them. I am pleased the FC didn’t compromise their values. I am glad the Republicans in the House aren’t a bunch of mindless clones
I am sick of paying for food, housing, medical care and phones for able bodied people. Medicare is a Ponsi scheme kept afloat because every worker must pay for it. Obamacare can survive only as a single-payer socialized system. As such it will deliver equally poor care to all equally. Just like Canada, Britain and the V A.
If every federal employee in every branch of the federal government (including Congress and all congressional employees—no exceptions) is required to take and pay for whatever replaces Obamacare, then perhaps both parties will do the best they can to provide the best possible product.
I support the end of Obamacare, could care less who leads it, who gets credit.... this needs to get done.
That would be nice if you could get the votes to do so. This is the problem, you can’t. So what then?
In fact the FC have damaged the one person who can engineer that with their arson last week. Outstanding.
What Ryan’s bill did in practice was changing the name from Obamacare to RepublicanCare.
That is, keeping the same program with a few tweaks, but tied it to Republicans. Thas was going to kill the Republicans in 2018. So the Freedom Caucus just saved the Republicans from the catastrophic defeat they were going to get in 18.
