This Nor'easter, named Stella, is coming on like a son of a gun! My sidewalks are already indistinguishable in height from the lawn on either side. I spent a lot of Monday preparing to be snowed in: moved up medical appointments to Monday morning, topped up the gas in my car, corrected deficiencies in food staples supplies (shelves were already conspicuously bare in many aisles), laid in a good supply of crickets for my lizards, studied weather reports, and checked on friends.
How have you in the Northeast prepared for Stella? If you stay home, how are you going to pass the time during the blizzard?
Snow has been falling for a couple of hours.
I am going to work on a sample oak, raised panel for our dinning room cabinets.
And probably doing the first snow throwing at about 4 PM.
Same here. Don't you just hate it when it's this cold?
Still took the day off, nonetheless. Not looking forward to shoveling whatever amount is on the ground today. It's gonna be heavy!
Blizzard? What blizzard?
Prediction was 12-18 inches where I am, right now there’s about 4, though a lot of that is sleet, and sleet is what we’re getting right now.
Wind? What wind?
Prediction was for 30 mph gusting to 45-50 at this hour, right now there’s nothing more than a gentle breeze, if that.
Once again, AccuPanic and the WeatherPanic Channel are creating ad revenue for themselves feeding off the bogus data coming from NOAA.
It’s snowing pretty heavy here.
Well I just got a post from a former boss who works at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. He says 5-6 inches in the ground and it’s coming down hard.
0800 Manhattan
finally started heavy snow - thick monster flakes
Coming down hard in northeast PA but no wind. About 8 inches so far. Still predicting 1-2 feet.
Stop supporting The Weather Channel marketing.
Snowstorms don’t have names...
Over a foot already here in Drums PA and it’s 9am.
i’m making french toast
In Maryland it’s pretty much an ice storm. I heard a branch come down next door and had a couple power blips.
Our corporate office closed. I work from home but I’m taking their lead.
Lots of folks out walking about, in Times Square!
In 9 months the maternity wards will be packed.
Just like they were 9 months after the 1965 NYC blackout.
Shh - I can’t tell you, but I’m not getting up early. ;-)
Going swimming. Of course I’m nowhere near the storm, cause snow sucks and so does the snowbelt.
Dear Miss Marmelstein,
3days stuck in a roadside restaurant, filled to capacity, sleeping on moving van blankets provided by also stuck moving van crews, sorta sour any food serving music recordings.
Naming winter storms is stupid. Watching The Weather Station is PC stupid.
STELLA is pretty much a fizzle here East of DC, but I’m retired (finally) and don’t have to go out in it.
Best of luck to the rest of you!
