At least a dozen U.S. National Security Agency employees have been caught using secret government surveillance tools to spy on the emails or phone calls of their current or former spouses and lovers in the past decade, according to the intelligence agency's internal watchdog.
The practice is known in intelligence world shorthand as "LOVEINT" and was disclosed by the NSA Office of the Inspector General in response to a request by the Senate Judiciary Committee's top Republican Charles Grassley for a report on abuses of the NSA's surveillance authority.

Well. At least they were spending their work days watching porn....
ok .. when someone spies on a dog, that crosses a line
These people need purged from our society.
I had a co-worker who had a camera set up on his dog at home and he surveilled him from work. He also had a speaker somehow hooked up so when the dog jumped on any of the nice furniture (or did anything else naughty) the speaker would command the dog to get off. The dog looked thoroughly confused but obeyed the remote commands.
somehow, that’s creepy...
My son does same ... spies.on the dog but I’ve got some new software am going to introduce on the dog’s computer. Son best beware
And we are supposed to believe that THEY don’t spy on US without a FISA warrant..................
IIRC, they have also been caught spying on celebrities..............
That's what these NSA freaks needed. Hey you with the spy cam...
What could be more intimate?
In several instances, the violators resigned or retired from their jobs before being disciplined. Others were demoted, given extra days of duty, had their pay cut, and had their access to databases revoked, the report said.
If you were looking for immediate firings together with large fines/imprisonments you are obviously under the misapprehension that the government takes this problem seriously.
They may be talented, but they’re also irresponsible and reckless.
It is way past time for mass hangings.
They could just as easily spy on a presidential candidate
What this proves is that the technology CAN be used to spy on political opponents, and campaign staff, and vote counters, judges, congress, etc.
The proper controls are not in place and that is a bigger threat to our freedom than anything else (ISIS, global warming, debt, whatever anyone is scared of). The technology can be used without a court order or oversight. A FISA court order is weak enough protection, but when even that isn’t needed our freedom depends on elected and/or unelected individuals with no oversight and unknown motives.
I’d argue that the proper controls cannot be put in place if the technology exists. Though a VERY small group using the technology for very specific targets may be ok and the problem could be that the number of people with access to the technology is the problem and not the tech itself.
It doesn’t matter if it has been done before or not in politics (e.g. Trump wiretapping), it should scare the #$!% out of EVERYONE. Once someone is in power who wants to use it to it’s full extent, that’s the end of free elections (and supreme court decisions, congressional votes, etc). And it could be an unknown three-letter-agency employee and not even the president running everything.
Seemed like a good/fun idea. He was way ahead of his time....
N W O
Move a few rocks will reveal they did it to Trump, especially with people in the Obama administration pushing it.
