Today, Tuesday 7 March 2017, WikiLeaks begins its new series of leaks on the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Code-named "Vault 7" by WikiLeaks, it is the largest ever publication of confidential documents on the agency.
The first full part of the series, "Year Zero", comprises 8,761 documents and files from an isolated, high-security network situated inside the CIA's Center for Cyber Intelligence in Langley, Virgina. It follows an introductory disclosure last month of CIA targeting French political parties and candidates in the lead up to the 2012 presidential election.
Recently, the CIA lost control of the majority of its hacking arsenal including malware, viruses, trojans, weaponized "zero day" exploits, malware remote control systems and associated documentation. This extraordinary collection, which amounts to more than several hundred million lines of code, gives its possessor the entire hacking capacity of the CIA. The archive appears to have been circulated among former U.S. government hackers and contractors in an unauthorized manner, one of whom has provided WikiLeaks with portions of the archive.

WikiLeaks says a outside contractor released the information. I’ll bet this is miss-direction.
It undoubtedly came, in late 2016, from an Obama appointee within the agency, knowing he was about to lose his job under the Trump administration.
The Clinton’s staff stole the “W” keys from the White House typewriters. The Obama acolytes stole the nation’s secrets.
Probably some True Believer lower down the food chain from him. Please see #41.
Probably some True Believer lower down the food chain from him... or not, as Brennan has always been suspect of many things.
Please see #41.
Most of those tools were figured out by hackers 5 to 7 years ago, most by using the programming tools used by Apple, Google and Microsoft to write iOS, MacOS, Android and Windows apps.
If the agency lost control of this stuff, and it’s in the wild; why wouldn’t you want to know?
Not to mention the very real crime of them hacking us citizens.
looks like someone inside the CIA doesn’t like the DeepState’s assault on Trump...
Excellent descriptor.
I propose that this CIA effort is all about rendering cyberspace practically useless; too dangerous for even casual habitation.
This would utterly annihilate this site, and the entire alt-media that has been such a growing success in bringing the all-DNC-all-the-time MSM into an increasing state of confrontation with their lies, and forcing elevated public scrutiny, outrage, and eventuating into accountability to the public that would be a constraint upon their never-ending promotions of leftism.
If the CIA, by these efforts, and by the “oops” of letting it all out “into the wild,” can eliminate the most effective means that We The People have found to foist accountability upon a renegade Press, then that Press will, once again, enjoy carte blanche to be as propagandist as ever any totalitarian-state-controlled Press has ever been upon planet Earth.
IOW, the free flow of Truth through cyberspace will be mortally wounded, and Freedom will be GREATLY imperiled.
How about we just tear the whole thing down?
Soooo, you wouldn’t want to be informed if someone makes off with a nuclear weapon from US arsenals? I would.
This is much the same thing. Someone has made off with government weapons, is using them against us - and the government refused to tell us they were taken or even that we should defend ourselves against them.
Now do you see why this might *just* be important for us to know?
So far I think the main lesson of today’s leak is that focusing on the NSA is a mistake as the CIA has replicated almost everything the NSA does in house.
The CIA has even replicated what the Russians do. The CIA can now hack and leave Russkie footprints behind. So who really hacked the DNC?
