The Amazon Echo's virtual voice assistant "Alexa" is already a great listener -- now, a new report suggests she might soon keep an eye on your home, too.
That scoop comes in the form of a picture of an Amazon-branded security camera that AFTVNews reportedly found "sitting on Amazon.com." The small, free-standing design is similar to products like the Nest Cam or the Canary Flex, but it's the blue ring around the lens -- reminiscent of the blue ring on top of the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot smart speakers -- that's raising eyebrows.
Does that mean that this thing is a voice-activated Alexa Camera? It's too early to tell... Still... One recent report projects that the smart speaker category will see more than $2 billion in sales by 2020, so why not hitch a voice-friendly camera along for the ride?

Why would someone want something like this in their house?

Baby sitter camera o keep an eye on the crib. Surveillance camera.
I would recommend an off-line surveillance cameras for baby nursery...or any area inside of home.
Why given big data 24/7 footage of your home and family?
That said, I don’t see a lot of ramification with having a camera outside of home that runs thru a phone app.
A telescreen surrogate.
The Washington Post streaming live from your house. Bozo with one hand on each bald head watching your activity.
Doesn't a computer already see you? I know I can take "selfies" on it, so logically it can take pictures without me. Alexa is listening all the time, so it can hear you. That's why I've decided I don't want the thing.
Privacy no longer exists.
Worse, the millennials seem to be A-OK with their goldfish bowls.
