Animal control officers in Maryland tracked down and captured a loose dog many residents believed to be a wolf.
Prince George's County police shared photos which concerned several citizens due to its large size and wolf-like appearance.
Police managed to track down and capture the animal at about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday and confirmed that it was a large dog.
"It seems to be a mixed malamute/husky-type dog," Prince George's animal management Chief Rodney Taylor told WUSA. "He's definitely a dog."
The dog was found without any kind of identification such as a chip or a collar and will be held at the county animal shelter for 5-7 days to be claimed by its owners before, being placed for adoption.

If their offspring aren’t sterile, they just might be members of the same species.

That is my fear as well.
Beautiful animal.
LOL!!! You are right!
Dogs are wonderful companions and loyal friends.
When I come down in the morning, my black lab gets off the couch and starts wagging her tail, and I call her my wiggly waggly girl. She doesn’t stop wagging her tail.
Dogs are awesome.:)
Their tails *are* flexible, ya know.
Depending on mood, can be up or down and show Mals are always stacked with tails curling over their hip, as required by the breed standard.
Many residents of MD are stone cold idiots and wouldn’t know a wolf if it bit them in the ass.
Praise God, a voice of reason.
It’s a freaking Mal.
Sheesh.
:D
“His hair was perfect...”
The lost and found groups of MD are already aware of him and even if his owner is not found, he will be pulled by a rescue, almost assuredly.
To a person, they’re all livid that anyone has mistaken this obvious dog for a wolf.
No way a GSD and heavy-bodied like a Mal.
Too wide for a wolf and the legs are all wrong.
I would never let my dogs “roam”.
They just nailed a guy in WV who had been dognapping pets for ring bait.
Too many bad things happen to dogs who are not watched over.
They look fine to me, they're all touching the ground like they're supposed to........
A few years back there was a story in the local paper about two fishermen who rescued a golden retriever they found swimming in Lake St. Clair along a sea wall in New Baltimore and they took it to the Macomb County animal shelter.
A week later, the writer of the article decided to do a follow up story only to be told by the "shelter" staff that the dog had to be euthanized because it was sick........
I found a standard poodle that wandered up to me when I was lying in the sun on my deck one summer day. I called the local shelter to see if anyone had reported it missing and they said yes and would I bring it in to them. I told them I couldn't because it wouldn't fit in my two seater car. I then asked them to contact the owners and inform them that I had their dog. The shelter said they don't do that and that they would inform them should they happen to contact them again.Well, about two hours later, the shelter called me back and said that the owners had just called again and asked me for my phone number so they could give it to them...(???????????)
Well, I did and the owners called and they were somewhere in my subdivision searching for the dog so they came and picked it up. Turns out they lived about 4 miles away and somehow the dog ended up at my house having wandered thru who knows how many subdivisions, crossing several major highways........

“Wolves and dogs are interfertile, meaning they can breed and produce viable offspring. In other words, wolves can interbreed with any type of dog, and their offspring are capable of producing offspring themselves. “
