The lost and found groups of MD are already aware of him and even if his owner is not found, he will be pulled by a rescue, almost assuredly.
To a person, they’re all livid that anyone has mistaken this obvious dog for a wolf.
A few years back there was a story in the local paper about two fishermen who rescued a golden retriever they found swimming in Lake St. Clair along a sea wall in New Baltimore and they took it to the Macomb County animal shelter.
A week later, the writer of the article decided to do a follow up story only to be told by the "shelter" staff that the dog had to be euthanized because it was sick........
I found a standard poodle that wandered up to me when I was lying in the sun on my deck one summer day. I called the local shelter to see if anyone had reported it missing and they said yes and would I bring it in to them. I told them I couldn't because it wouldn't fit in my two seater car. I then asked them to contact the owners and inform them that I had their dog. The shelter said they don't do that and that they would inform them should they happen to contact them again.Well, about two hours later, the shelter called me back and said that the owners had just called again and asked me for my phone number so they could give it to them...(???????????)
Well, I did and the owners called and they were somewhere in my subdivision searching for the dog so they came and picked it up. Turns out they lived about 4 miles away and somehow the dog ended up at my house having wandered thru who knows how many subdivisions, crossing several major highways........
