Designer Andre Soriano, who immigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines, is a big fan of the new president.
The designer behind Joy Villa's "Make America Great Again" pro-Trump Grammys gown, Filipino immigrant Andre Soriano, tells THR that he is supportive of the new president despite his controversial immigration ban, and that the message of the dress was one of positivity.
"Its more so about love," he said of the red, white and blue gown. "We all live on this planet. Ive never been in the political area. However, its just so crazy that people are getting beat up because they voted for Trump, or this and that, someone wants to bomb the White House....I am an American, I moved here from the Philippines and I highly believed in the trueness of what this country can bring. Its about bringing people together, thats the message."
Soriano skirted questions regarding the meat of his political beliefs, but said he is proud American and believes that he is an example of the American Dream. He was first discovered on Rihanna's Bravo reality show, Styled to Rock, and launched his label in San Diego in 2013, selling ready-to-wear and red carpet looks online only. He is a naturalized citizen.
"There are a lot of people that are in power that really misconstrued what this country stands for," he said. "I love this country. Im from the Philippine islands, I am a proud American. I really love this country. I am a minority, Joy is black. America is about immigrants."

He added of his relationship with Villa, "Weve been working since the orange gown she wore two years ago, the fence dress. My husband is a contractor and we went to Home Depot and I saw that fabric .the look went viral."

Soriano has also outfitted Macy Gray, Courtney Love and Bai Long for red carpet events, but says he has a special relationship with Villa.
"I always channel Joys music as a designer were both artists and I love her so dearly," said Soriano. "She is one of the people on this planet that really promotes love. We need to move this country forward, and we believe its time to promote love. We only live once, and we need to promote love. We have one president now who is going to do the best thing for planet America."
As for the inspiration behind the pro-Trump dress, he says, "I heard that somebody wanted to bomb the White House. And then I saw the Womens March... Joy Villa is all about love with her music. Im like Joy, We have to make a statement on what is right for our country, of what we believe in, for the constitution."
Designer from San Diego...Kewl !

You’re right. She could use the immediate support. Surfed and noticed she’s now being subjected to the Left’s habitual nastiness.
My initial comment to you was predicated on recent disappointments such as the cowardly remarks made by Dwayne Johnson where he marginalized Under Armour’s CEO, Kevin Plank, for his optimistic support of Trump.
Read all the hate she is getting from the Nazi-left.

That’s my new tag for them, the “Nazi-left” because that’s just how they act. We are the “Jews” to their Nazi. We try to merely speak at their campuses and they pull their own little Kristallnachts smashing and burning things. Come out as Trump supporter and you are attacked, slandered, threatened, banished.
A good example of that is this...Anyone read this yet?

I bought her stuff an hour ago. Best revenge against the Nazi leftists who were saying she destroyed her career is to drive her right to #1 !!!
Shame the cowards who bailed on the Inauguration didn’t have the guts of Joy Villa. Maybe now some of them will grow a set.
I went to iTunes and bought her music tonight. Thank you Andre and Joy, that was very brave.
I never heard of her, but I actually really dig her stuff! Pretty melodic and unique sound. Downloaded a few songs but may get a few more.
I put a bunch of her singles in my Amazon cart a couple of hours ago. My next stop from Free Republic is Amazon. (I always get sidetracked at FR since I made it my internet homepage back during the campaign when everything on my then-homepage Yahoo was anti-Trump. Bigly.)
I’m off to buy myself some Joy! :)
That static album is good stuff. Glad I found out about her music. She’s talented for sure. Every song is pretty catchy.
“Trumps own wife is a LEGAL immigrant!”
As was his mother and first wife, mother of Donald, Jr, Eric, and Ivanka.
Anyone else notice that the dress has a “Trump Train”?
What liberals don’t understand is that we have nothing against LEGAL immigrants..immigrants who come here LEGALLY are more than welcome. My mother, father, uncles, and aunt are immigrants, they came here from Israel over 30+ years ago, they came here LEGALLY the way it should be done..what we are against is ILLEGAL Immigration..liberals can’t put their head around the fact that there is a difference..oh and Filipinos tend to vote Republican, at least that goes for our neighbor down the street, sweet older lady, she voted for Trump so did her daughter
I make the Static is now up to #4

There was a thread on it during the wee hours. Lots of comments and links .

Aha! Good catch!
The left insists enforcing immigration law is “racist.”
Best comeback I’ve seen so far: ILLEGAL IS NOT A RACE.
“I am an American, “
says it all.
