I wonder if this is where/when the sport of dwarf tossing started?

“One horrified observer described the group as ‘an unholy assembly of pimps, hookers and gamblers.’”
Oh, that’s just a cowardly line.

Seems like a ruby slipper to the family jewels would have solved her problem.

I read a heavily-sourced book last year about Hollywood life back in the day. Everybody was sleeping with everybody else at one time or the other. It’s good we didn’t know it at time, or it would have grossed us out (when we weren’t fantasizing about it).

Judy Garland was a very rare mix of shattered nerves and insecurities, self-destructiveness and suicidal tendencies but also a true genius,' wrote Luft in his memoir.'She was to me the greatest talent who ever lived.'
It seems that artistic talent more often than not comes with manic depression.
I have seen it in many of the artist I have known.
They often turn to drugs and alcohol as their preferred coping tools.

Uh, no. She wasn’t that stupid.
Garland always made jokes about the Munchkins in interviews, on tv shows and on her own show. I have no doubt they were horny little bastards. Still, she glows in it as she does in all her movies!

Yup. The two are linked! And she was a genius.
I had a friend who died 5 years ago who was a great friend of hers. He always intimated that she mainlined heroin. I can’t say if that’s true but he did hint at that over and over.

wild evenings with rooms ransacked and drunken little people swinging from the rafters.
Sigh! Why am I always the last to hear of these parties?

“They got smashed every night and the police used to scoop them up in butterfly nets.”
Now that's the most unusual sentence I've read on the internet in awhile.
