Days after leaving the hospital for treatment of pneumonia, it was announced that former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara will be at Super Bowl 51 this Sunday to perform the ceremonial coin toss.
The game is taking place in the Bushes hometown of Houston and Mrs. Bush referenced the need for them both to be at the championship contest when both were laid up in the hospital. (Barbara Bush was treated for bronchitis while her husband was in intensive care for his illness.)
The ex-POTUS and First Lady are both in their 90s and there was quite a bit of concern when they were hospitalized, so this news was understandably greeted with joy on social media.

Mr Bush, on one side of the coin is John F Kennedy. On the other side is the CIA.
Kinda of like Evil Knevil...what will she do??!!
I’m not a Gaga fan, but her run at last year’s National Anthem was great. Ted Nugent even had good things to say about her on Facebook yesterday, great talent and the hope that she doesn’t turn this into a political message.
I could care less. Both about the game & Bush Sr.’s involvement.
Astrodome is no longer in use. It’s an abandoned shell building, last I saw.
The game will be at Reliant Stadium.
Or boost viewership??
No longer an active politician, just a tired, but flinty, man hanging on to the twilight of his life, as we're called to do.
It’s more like extending a branch of poison ivy.
I got to watch my Falcons.
It wouldn’t kill me if the Falcons lost, BUT I WANT THEM TO WIN.
Even if the Falcons weren’t in it, I would still have to watch and pull for Brady and Gronk. I love those guys!
Oh, boy...this os going to turn into one big NeverTrump fiasco.
Long life and good health to both of them.
Double Amen.
They sold the seats to the public and have torn down the entrances. I’ll always favor the Dome over the new stadiums. It’s the Luddite in me.
Amen to that.
Yes. Thank you.
I live 1.5 miles from the venue, and I heard lady gaga is going to skydive into the stadium into a large pile of meat.
she did promise no meat dresses on Sunday! :)
